Threethingsjan14

This week we are taking a peek at a couple Valentine/Love related products. Look for another round of three next week - there are just too many cool things out there for creating projects that celebrate those you love.

• Thinking a little tiny bit about Valentine projects (must be all the pink). Planning to use my new "Loving Stamps" from Technique Tuesday on something Valentine related. You can also pick up a similar digital version called "Loving Life Word Art." You can download the new Technique Tuesday 2009 Winter Supplement (pdf)
to see the entire line of stamps (or go here).

• Speaking of Valentine's, one of my favorite product lines from CHA last summer
(the big Craft & Hobby show) was from Little Yellow Bicycle called "Love Letters." I love the cardstock stickers (shown above),

• This wonderful print that is going to hang somewhere in my house (maybe in the baby's room or a bathroom) from isophotography (found via poppytalk handmade). It would make a great gift for a loved one.

• And one more lovey thing I couldn't resist this week: little love notes tickets from Making Memories.

We usually attempt to go out to dinner but since we never make reservations, wind up out of luck and having to go to dinner another night. But I do slip a little love note and some Hershey's kisses into the inner pocket of my husband's coat for him to discover on the train ride to work.

A few years back being a single mother I decided that Valentine's day met not only celebrating your love for your sweetheart but celebrating WHOEVER you loved. So I started buying my kids (now ages 14,16,19 & 20)some sort of Valentine's day candy and writing them little love notes (usually M&M's, in the heart shape container or some kind of heart shaped candy). One year I didn't buy them anything because I thought they're getting too old for this and they were all so mad at me. I had to go out the next day and get them something to make it up too them.
Also on Valentine's day, we have the same rules as when it's your birthday. On that day no one can get in trouble or scolded for not doing their chores it's all about love & happiness on that day.The everyday stuff can wait until tomorrow.

Valentine's day is just about being together. Since it's a Saturday!! We'll probably watch movies and order pizza and just ignore the outside world. Sounds like a perfect day to me!

I haven't done anything special in a long time. Maybe this is the year. I am going to send some *love* notes to my co-workers to let them know how much I appreciate them. Morale is pretty low maybe it will help a little bit, along with chocolate :).

Stay at home, dinner, and watch a good movie or maybe by that time I'll have a significant other and we can just hang out at home.

We generally spend the evening hanging out together. A pizza place in our area has a heart shaped pizza that day + we bake some sugar cookies. Last year I made one the little I love you books you showed for my hubby and each of the kids. Haven't decided on what little love note I'm making for them this year. I better get busy!! Thanks for all the cool ideas!

Hi Ali! Valentines day is a day celebrated by our whole family. My favorite part is the traditions I have with my kids. Every year, we start the morning with heart shaped pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream for the kids. If it is a school day, we have a heart shaped snack and then the eagerly anticipated Valentine hunt begins! My kids are given a clue (which is of course written on some kind of cute tag that can be scrapbooked) and that clue leads them to the next, and the next. Eventually the final clue leads them to their card and a little gift. We end the evening with a nice dinner eaten at the formal dining room table with the good china and lit candles. Dessert is always chocolate dipped strawberries that the kids help me make. My children LOVE valentines day and I have to admit, I do too!

I cannot tell a lie. Since I don't have a BF, SO, DH or any other three letter acronym to call my own, I most look forward to raiding the Target on the day after for the sale priced Valentine packaged chocolate!!

In our home we are pretty quiet about Valentines Day - very personal to us. The biggest deal is the heart of chocolates for our son (under 10). We do cards and have a nice dinner at home for all three of us.

We currently don't have a Valentine's Day tradition. I'd like to start one though, maybe watching a movie together as a family or going out to dinner. I've never sent Valentines to family before, but I might this year.

I usually gift my kids with something they might like...it needs to be red or pink in color. For my husband, I make or find a mushy card.

My grandson, who lives just up the road from me, always helps decorate heart-shaped cookies for Valentine's Day. He takes some home to his mom and dad. He also makes hand-stamped cards (with a little help from me)to give to special people in his life, including one for me. I really enjoy creating things with him!!

Couple of things come to mind.
My children receive a small token of our love from my hubby and I, always a piece of jewelry with a heart somewhere. They ahve quite the collection from lockets to charms & everything in between. I also try to mail a valentine (either handmade or store-purchased) to my nieces and nephews.
Love all these products, thanks Ali!

Valentines Day if a fun time around here. I make the kids breakfast in everything pink or red : pink milk, pancakes with strawberries on top and even let them have a pink cookie. They also get a little gift relating to Valentines Day. It is a fun time

Together my sons and I make Valentines for their classes... we use all my stamps and "fancy paper" they love it... then off to the kitchen to make heart shaped cookies on a stick for their class parties... such a mess by the end... but so much fun!
