Three Things + 1 : Lots of Love (and giveaways)
This week we are taking a peek at a couple Valentine/Love related products. Look for another round of three next week - there are just too many cool things out there for creating projects that celebrate those you love.
• Thinking a little tiny bit about Valentine projects (must be all the pink). Planning to use my new "Loving Stamps" from Technique Tuesday on something Valentine related. You can also pick up a similar digital version called "Loving Life Word Art." You can download the new Technique Tuesday 2009 Winter Supplement (pdf)
to see the entire line of stamps (or go here).
• Speaking of Valentine's, one of my favorite product lines from CHA last summer
(the big Craft & Hobby show) was from Little Yellow Bicycle called "Love Letters." I love the cardstock stickers (shown above),
• This wonderful print that is going to hang somewhere in my house (maybe in the baby's room or a bathroom) from isophotography (found via poppytalk handmade). It would make a great gift for a loved one.
• And one more lovey thing I couldn't resist this week: little love notes tickets from Making Memories.

To be entered into today's drawing please leave a comment letting me know how you celebrate Valentine's Day. Do you do something special for your kids or other family members that has become a nice tradition from year to year? Comments will be closed tonight at 9pm with the winner's posted shortly after.
We really don't have a Valentine tradition. I always get the kids something small but meaningful, and my husband and I try to schedule a date night to celebrate together. Thanks for the giveaway!

For us Valentine's Day is about finding cute gifts for the kids, and having a nice meal at home. I almost always bake a heart-shaped cake, and we have cake and coffee in front of the fire.

Each Valentine's Day, instead of buying cards for one another, my husband and I head over to the local card shop and look at the cards separately in the store. We then pick out the card we would buy for one another, but instead of buying them, we simply trade cards with one another in the store. We read them and share sentiments and a sweet kiss in the aisle of Wal-Mart. This tradition was born out of the frustration of last minute shopping for cards. The first few years of our marriage, we usually would be on the way somewhere - not holiday related- when my DH would suddenly remember what day it was. Then he would pull into the store, bring me in with him and proceed to pick out a card while I was there. Since we've started this tradition, there aren't anymore shed tears over the lack of a card.

My husband and I have tried not to go too overboard with Valentine's Day gifts, instead placing emphasis on everyday things throughout the year that show we love one another. And with a 20 month old son, we won't go out to dinner or anything (especially since V-Day is on a Saturday - busy night!); we'll probably just get a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's! =)

Almost a family date night.

A homemade valentine for my husband of course...he looks forward to it. For the whole family we do a special dessert like chocolate decadence (mini, intense, low flour, and wonderful--recipe at Cooking Light.com). We always stay in and avoid the holiday rush at restaurants.

I always do something for my Mom; when we were kids, she made individual strawberry jello in the shape of a heart for each of us on Valentine's day. She still talks about it. And I make heart shaped cut out cookies for my husband.

We exchange gifts and go out to dinner. At least I hope so for this year, my daughter is 21 and my son 18.

I am sending Valentine cards this year to all my girlfriends. I started this a few years ago, and everyone looks forward to it every year! This stuff would come in handy for that!!!

Because of an abusive ex-husband (not exactly a romantic) and recent transitions into a two person family (myself and my son), we don't really have any Valentine's day traditions. I'm thinking we'll start a new tradition this year, and make a super special dinner, maybe with some chocolate fondue for dessert! You can't go wrong with chocolate fondue... :)

Valentine's is one of my favorite holidays. I like to make everything hearts for the day and everything is decorated red & pink hearts. Our girls always get a special love gift and I usually make a very special dinner for my hubby served on our finest china and crystal. Oh, and candle light to set the romantic mood.

I buy cute dollar store Valentine stuff and hide it all over the house. The kids love searching for all the "love treasures"
This year we are going on a Valentine Cruise. That means I will be hiding stuff in a 12 x 12 cabin (not such a challenge to find)

My friends and I wanted to do something special for our kids who aren't in school yet. The past two years we've organized a Valentines Day Party for our playgroup. We are each in charge of something. The kids get to play games, eat treats & of course exchange valentines between each other. We look forward to doing it again this year.

My husband and I celebrate the day in a quiet way. We avoid the commercialism of it all and celebrate our love by spending time together. Not over laptop screens or crossing paths in the hallway while doing our thing, but really just sit down together, talking and hanging out. We love the simplicity of it and get so much more out of devoting time to one another than we get from a box of chocolates.

We usually skip valentines day. Why? our anniversary is the next week. We fondly think of valentines day as the date that didn't happen... we were going to get together for our first date then, but didn't. However the 'real thing', the date happened 2/21, we were then married on that day 1 year later. :)

We don't have a tradition we do every year. We usually make cupcakes and sometimes have a Valentines party with friends. My daughter missed out on having a Valentines birthday by 46 minutes, but she loves to combine Valentines Day and her birthday. Thanks for the great giveaways. :)

Hi Ali!
My boys - ages 13 and 16, my husband and I all go out to dinner together. I know this may change as the boys get older, have girlfriends, etc. But for now, I'm happy to have them all going out to dinner with me.
Happy Valentines Day!

We keep it simple, a card and a few really fine chocolates. Salt caramels are my favorites!

My hubby's birthday is the day before Valentine's Day so we typically celebrate both occasions on the 14th with dinner.

i've not done this yet (due to picky eaters) but i'd like to make a dinner that has all red things - say, turkey tacos with red tortilla shells, tomatoes, peppers, berry punch juice, strawberries...i think it would be fun!

Hi Ali - Instead of cut flowers, my husband always got me a plant to put in the garden. It started with rose bushes and now that the garden is nearly full last year I took my husband and son snowboarding!
Happy Days and thanks! Kelly Rell

I usually put together gift bags for my girls with all things red/pink in them. It's so fun trying to fill it with candy and goodies that are fun and creative. They love getting them every year as I try to get really different things each year. I also make creative cards and write everything I love about each family member on them. I love Valentines day!
