Three Things + 1 : Lots of Love (and giveaways)

Threethingsjan14

This week we are taking a peek at a couple Valentine/Love related products. Look for another round of three next week - there are just too many cool things out there for creating projects that celebrate those you love.

• Thinking a little tiny bit about Valentine projects (must be all the pink). Planning to use my new "Loving Stamps" from Technique Tuesday on something Valentine related. You can also pick up a similar digital version called "Loving Life Word Art." You can download the new Technique Tuesday 2009 Winter Supplement (pdf)
to see the entire line of stamps (or go here).

• Speaking of Valentine's, one of my favorite product lines from CHA last summer
(the big Craft & Hobby show) was from Little Yellow Bicycle called "Love Letters." I love the cardstock stickers (shown above),

• This wonderful print that is going to hang somewhere in my house (maybe in the baby's room or a bathroom) from isophotography (found via poppytalk handmade). It would make a great gift for a loved one.

• And one more lovey thing I couldn't resist this week: little love notes tickets from Making Memories.

I am retraining my consumerism-minded brain and rethinking gifts for Valentines Day. Instead we are going to have a fun family Valentine's themed dinner. Now, if I could only think of what to make!

We don't do anything romantic for Valentines Day...that's what happens when you have kids. They are now our Valentines and we spend it with them! We usually go out for a nice family dinner...only somewhere where we can make reservations..I refuse to wait for hours for a table. I would rather cook and stay home then wait to eat. Hope you have a great Valentines Day!!

My boyfriend and I do different things each Valentine's to keep it fun. Last year we went to dinner and then had coffee in one little shop and then dessert in another. It was fun, we live in Boston. The North End is the place to be!
Ali, you and your sponsors ROCK! Thanks!

I make up cute little gift bags for each of my kids to open when they get home from school. I make a special dinner and a yummy dessert that usually includes pound cake, chocolate and strawberries.

We celebrate Valentines Day in several different ways. DH and I exchange small gifts--usually gift cards to our favorite places, and we get DS a box of candy and a small something (last year it was a Webkinz). We have breakfast for supper on that night--I make pink heart shaped pancakes that everyone enjoys. :) DH is usually the more creative one on this particular day. For several years, he has done a 12 days of Valentine's type of theme that starts with a note every morning for 12 days leading up to Valentine's Day. Often the notes are just sweet thoughts and feelings that he has for me, us, and our family. Occasionally they are accompanied by the offer of a backrub or that he will treat dinner instead of me cooking. They are always heartfelt and ALWAYS much appreciated.
Great topic! And thanks for the chance at the giveaways. :)

Since they were in kindergarten/preschool, our sons (now 16 and 15) each have a red heart-shaped container that we fill with their favorite candies every Valentine's Day (M&Ms for one and Skittles for the other). We made the mistake one year of thinking they out grew the containers and just gave them each the entire 11 oz bag (the containers don't hold that much)...they wanted their containers back with the candy inside!! Aren't traditions great?!! So simple but so important.

We all exchange handmade cards at our house. The last two years I've made my hubby little funny valentine books. I think I'll have to make that a tradition. Thanks for the chance to win one of these amazing prizes. You are so generous.

Now Valentines is a pretty quiet affair at our house. But I can remember as a kid being so excited to get the heart shaped little box of chocolates from my parents. I presume this year that my 2yo DD will be excited to show me the valentines she brings home from daycare.

Ideally, my husband and I would spend the evening together at home with a nice dinner for 2 and a romantic movie (though in reality, he will be working).
I also like to send a care package to each set of nieces and nephews! That's the fun part! :)

hey ali...I love evalicious and elle's studio! Great giveaways!
I always find a special project to make for my hubby and hide it in a place he goes often (like the little fridge for a pop or his underwear drawer). Then he knows how much I love him!!

We give a small gift and some chocolate to our kids for Valentine's day. I also make my mom some sort of homemade gift. We also do the school valentines, now that our kids are in school. This year we are going to make our valentine, instead of buying them. I am excited to work on this project with my kids.

My husband makes his to-die-for buttery, sugar, heart-shaped cookies, we frost them, and then we distribute them to our family and friends. I lost 2 of my favorite valentines this past year, my mother and father. Thanx for the opportunity to win one of the gifts.

On Valentine's Day we usually all make time for a pancake breakfast together. I try to sneak sweet little notes to everyone in the family to find during their day.
We keep the gifts small and thoughtful, and the cards are usually handmade - at least the cards that come from the kids and me.
I like that it's a small, cozy kind of holiday for our family. We don't do anything luxurious, but we all make sure everyone knows how much we care all throughout the day.

We usually celebrate by going out to dinner and a movie, then come home and exchange our gifts. This year I am thinking of doing some special cookies and decorating those up for Valentine's Day!

We don't really celebrate, but now that our daughter is 14 months old, I would like to start some traditions for this holiday also. There are all kinds of ideas here that I may think of. Thanks for the giveaway.

we actually switch off each year. I always make a card (and can't believe he has collected each one of them and saved them all), he always tries to find some neat veggie place to take me. All in all, we get to be together and take a moment to slow down and realize how far we have come.

My pumpkin and I have celebrated as we always have-at a french restaurant. Our first was in Washington DC. We've visited that same place a few times through-out our 20 year marriage. This year we had big plans since we are living back in the area..but unfortunately, he was deployed yesterday. I guess this year we'll have to video message!!
Thanks for all the lovely giveaways you've been hosting!!!

DH and I like to go out for a quiet dinner. But now that there's a baby in the picture, we'll. I have fond memories of all things Valentine-y from when I was a kid. I can't wait to do the same for mine. Candy, cards, etc!
