Sitting

I find myself spending lots of time on the couch with little Anna in my arms these days.

This past weekend we moved ourselves over to my parents couch on the Oregon coast. It was a great little getaway and change of scenery. Anna and I stayed on the couch most of the time while Simon got to get outside and run in the dunes, in the tall grass, and on the beach with Grandma & Grandpa.

Grandma and Simon also had a chance to make a cake so we could celebrate Anna's almost one-month birthday. Don't you think it is almost always a good time for cake (especially one with rainbow sprinkles on top)?

Weekend

Good times (especially when you get to wear your striped pj's all day).

Back at home now and hoping to make some more progress this week getting used to our new normal. Finding myself wanting to get some things done...and get off the couch a bit more at least in the mornings.

Those couch cuddle moments flee too quickly. Before you know it, lil' Anna will be mobile. Enjoy those quiet moments while they're here. Most everything else can wait. Congratulations on your newest family member!

Even though you feel like you need to get off the couch(or lounge as we say in Australia) just enjoy the moment. It is such a short period of time in the scheme and these moments are so precious. Do all you can to treasue and remember. My little girl was born when my son was just 2 and we sat on the lounge a lot and it was great I miss it so much and it seems like it went by in a blink. She is about to turn 2 in May.
Enjoy and do what you need to make you happy. Wait for some sunshine and sit outside.

Hi Ali - Sounds like a terrific weekend. A question for you: Do you tend to take a lot of pictures of the same thing (like I tend to do!) or do you just snap off one and move on. For example, do you have a bunch of photos of Simon and you Mom icing the cake?

Holding a baby makes all hearts feel stronger and more at peace. Your picture reminded me of my own daughter as a baby. (she's fifteen now going on twenty something) The time will fly, but the memories will stay to be savored.

You seem so completely content! That's my favorite emotion. Just savor that sweet little angel!! She's absolutely PERFECT! Work will wait a bit longer...just keep a journal handy so you can jot down creative blips that I'm sure she's inspiring in you now! Simon even seems content with your new family (probably why he hates leaving you to go to school!). Best wishes!

    Hi Ali,
I love that you are keeping us up to date with photos. You resemble your mom so much in the photo of you and Anna on the couch, maybe its just the angle the photo is taken from. Glad to hear things are going so well. Please continue to share all the joy with us.

I agree with an aforementioned poster......Stay on the couch!
Paige and I spend much of our days on the couch as well, especially on the days her older brother is out and about with his Gammom and it's been wonderful to have that bit of bonding time with her. Sometimes things get so hectic around the house with an older kiddo and work and such, it's easy to let those important bonding moments slide, so stay on that couch! Other things can wait. ;)
Btw, I can't believe how tall Simon looks in that one photo of him asleep!
