A Weekend in the Life (weekend creative follow-up)

AE_weekend  [ CLICK TO VIEW LARGER : template available through Designer Digitals ]

I love this project.

The simple act of remembering to have your camera on hand results in some of the best, most unexpected photos.

I took a ton of shots (more on Saturday compared to Sunday).

For my project this time I decided to do a large digital gathering of 3 inch x 3 inch cropped photos to showcase the weekend. I like seeing all the individual parts of our weekend brought together to create the whole. I will be uploading this today for printing along with most of the photos (scrapbookpictures.com). I have a bunch of specific stories in mind to tell once I get them back from the developer.

Here's a few of my favorite individual shots:

If you played along this weekend feel free to leave a link to your blog or project in the comments. I hope you enjoyed the process.

I would love to see how you chose to document the weekend.

Happy Monday!

Loved this idea. I didn’t take as great of pics, but I had fun doing it and got to try out my new camera. I downloaded the template from design digitals and plugged in the pics. Still not sure if I’m doing that right. I’m still using photoshop elements 2 and the tutorials all seem to be for the newer ones. You are really an inspiration to me. I love your simplistic style and I’ve always loved photo collages. I did many of those when I paper scrapped. Thanks!! You can check it out on my blog at http://www.weloveiowa.blogspot.com.

Hi Ali, Love your concept of documenting a weekend. I am sitting here reading your post and the readers comments enjoying my morning cup of tea – it’s Tuesday morning here in Australia – and I am thinking………now is a good time to start. So out with the camera. I was seldom in photos until I discovered my 10 sec timer (totally had a senior’s moment about that one). Now I am in more photos. Thanks for a great idea.
    Cheers, Irene :)

Loving the shot of you reading to Anna. Being the photographer of the family like me i wonder how often you find yourself actually in the picture. My new baby boy is 14 weeks and i must literally have one or two pics of me AND him. MUST get someone to take some pics of me!!!!
    Carrying on inspiring girlie!

I love the pictures. I take a ton of pictures of my kids and husband but there are very few of me. Or taken with my eyes shut or my mouth open ;0)
Any tips on how to have more pictures of me?

Whew!! The weekend is long gone, but it was fun capturing it in detail. Thanks for the idea! I’m not sure yet how I will project this… I’m just starting to digitally scrap. So perhaps it will be a two page spread to go into a 2009 album?? I have enough shots to make its own 8×8 book, but the time? Ah, we’ll see what happens. I posted some of my shots on my blog…

This looks great, I am determined to try this this weekend as will be a typical weekend with childrens netball games, extra ballet classes and a birthday party to go to. My only question do you physically crop your 4×6 photos to 3×3 or do you somehow resize them in photoshop first? I have physically cropped to 4×4 when trying to emulate yiour style but most of my photos would lose a lot if trimmed to 3×3 BUT i love the look. Thanks for sharing so much!

Your pictures are amazing. you’ve inspired me. I hope you continue this look into the weekend. I posted a odd and fun look into our morning.

    Hi Ali,
this was the first time I dared to make such a documentation, because I always feel like one week or so is too overwhelming – and what should I say: I really loved it!
I have blogged just a few pictures:
    http://daslebenistbunt.blogspot.com/2009/06/foto-tag.html
but I will make a mini-album of this weekend.
