It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like

Did you think I was going to say Christmas?

Yesterday morning was all about creating a web around the front porch. I wanted to do it while Simon was at school so he could come home to a surprise.

I started with a bunch of bags of webbing from Target.

It went up pretty well. One side is definitely better than the other as I got the hang of stretching it out. I used about six bags and have some left over for the inevitable updates it will need since I did it a couple weeks before Halloween.

I brought my computer outside so I could do a bit of work too - the weather was awesome. Lily was helping of course.

After I finished I waited inside by the window so I could see Simon's reaction as he got off the bus.

"Where did that web come from?" he wanted to know first thing.

One brief touch.

And then he was off to check out the Lego catalog that came in the mail on Monday.

Great webs! I love Simon's expression. I also love the school chair you are sitting on at the window! We have two of those and they are my favorite chairs. Super sturdy and just the right size for me.

The spider webs in front of my house would look that great too...if they hadn't been done by a committee of nine boys!

Oh I simply cannot wait to have children to surprise with treats like this. Even though they might not show much interest. I am sure it makes a huge difference to the adult they become just knowing they were surrounded by so much love.

Ali - for some reason, your new house reminds me of the Happy Days house. Not sure why. . .I think the Cunningham's house was probably a different color, but the theme song started running through my mind when I saw the pan photo of the front porch. Love the webs!
