Around The Room | Living With Your Photos + Color Inc Giveaway
I'm a huge fan of living with your photos. Out of albums, off your computer and onto your walls.
Over the years I've amassed quite a collection of family images - many of the recent ones being mounted rather than framed as you'll see below (and above). When I first starting hanging up photos I wanted them to be all black frames with white mats. Now I'm really enjoying the variety of both the framed and simply mounted images.
Around our house I've got quite a few gatherings happening on the walls. Some are consistent collections (meaning all mounted or all framed) and others are a mixture of the two.
The first ones I want to talk about line the hall from our entry into the kitchen.
The images are 12x12 photos are "standout mounted" from Color Inc. (Color Inc is a sponsor of my blog and has been generous with samples for me in the past and as you'll see below. This set I purchased on my own. They are excellent quality and have wonderful customer service.) When we moved into this house I ordered eight or nine of these with the intent that they would be grouped together and I love them.
They are mounted onto the wall using Miller Studio Magic Mounts removable mounting tabs. I tried a couple of other brands and these have worked the best.
You might have seen this image a couple weeks ago. This is in our dining area, between the kitchen and living room. This wall has a combination of framed and mounted images. The one of Simon and Anna in the blue shirts is from Persnickety Prints.
Upstairs I've got a few other collections starting. In the room you enter before coming into my office I've got a large standout mount from Color Inc (photo taken by Tracey Clark). That one is 3o inches x 20 inches.
In my office I've included two Ikea frames with 12x12 photos of me and Chris as kids. I enlarged these 1970's photos on my scanner and they were printed at Scrapbookpictures.com. These hung in Anna's room in our last house.
A little collage in Simon's room that includes photos, Star Wars stamps, and a signed photo of Yoda from Frank Oz.
And this one was in Anna's room in our last house. I didn't recreate it here yet, but it was a favorite in the old place.
In our bedroom I'm just beginning to build a photo wall.

I have some small photo groupings, frame scrapbook pages, finished scrapbook/mini albums in baskets to be enjoyed, and a digital frame.

Sadly, we don't have as many photos displayed as I like. I have made a few canvases of my own in the past and hang them in our upstairs hallway. Most of the pictures are at least 3-4 years old, however. I need to make this a priority. Thanks for showing how you do it in your home.

I keep framed school pictures in the living room, but in my bedroom I have a wall full of the frames that hold multiple pictures. Then in my craft room I just have a few random pictures. My husbands "collection room" has a few old framed posters and he too has framed Star Wars stamps. He will be very jealous when I show him the pic of Yoda. Love all of your ideas!

My first grouping was done after watching Home Alone on video. That big beautiful house had a grouping going up the stairway that I copied. Thanks for the ideas for other places and the chance to win.

Love it and totally agree. I'm in the process of moving, so I'm going through my flickr account to find the ones I want up in the walls. My last place I had so few because I realized everything I had up was at least 10 yrs old and I needed to "refresh" some of the faces.
I love the idea of using wrapped canvas! We were just talking last night about artwork for the bedroom and the wrapped frames just inspired my choices!

We have lots of framed photos on walls and tables. One of my favorites is the wedding photos of me and my husband, my parents. my maternal grandparents and my maternal great-grandparents.

I've just recently started hanging my pictures in the house. We have redone my kids' rooms (they are teenagers) and we're in the process of getting their photo collections onto their walls.

I have a blank wall that I stare at everyday trying to figure out what to put there. I have photos everywhere in my house but this wall stumps me. A canvas might be a great start. Thanks for the ideas and achance to win.

I am so bad with our photos. They are in a box, tucked away, and on top of that I forget to bring my camera to even take pics in the first place. I'm trying to work on this...thanks for the great giveaway.

I have small collections of photos throughout my home on table tops and walls. I have one area that I change the photos yearly as my grandchildren grow up. Thanks for sharing your ideas and photos. I especially love the idea of large unframed collections. I think that will be my next wall project. I just need to find an available wall!!

I love this framed mounted photo! I am starting to make more of an effort to get my photos on walls, as I take so many pictures, but don't get to enjoy them as much as I'd like when they are not displayed. To me, it is so much more meaningful than various "decorations".

I have a gallery of frames on top of low bookcases in our entry hall. I use black, red & silver frames, all fairly simply (some are more ornate, but I'm strategic with that!) and with family members from all time periods, but many are my everyday simple photos that I adore.

In my old house I had a plate rail around the three walls of the dining area which was open to the living room. I used it for photos and loved it, it was so easy to move photos around, swap them out. Now that we have moved, I designated most of those photos to go in the living room on a big empty wall, but I have been intimidated by the task. Seeing your photo walls, I think I am just going to take the plunge. I love having photos everywhere and have them scattered throughout my house on walls, on shelves and bookcases. They make me happy.

I've started a photo wall at my house, but need some new additions! I've also scrapbook and am currently working on a project capturing important events from each month to document my first year of marriage.

Although I've have plans for a few wall photo collections, we are still just living with desk portraits displayed in some of the most lack luster ways. One bookcase in the living room full of photos and knick knacks -- I think my real problem is learning to change them around when they no longer inspire us (or we stop noticing them altogether).

This is a timely post...as I have been thinking about getting some canvases/photos printed. The mounting squares you use...do you just put a few across the top? Seems like they would not be strong enough for framed photos. I am sooo inspired by our blog...thanks for sharing all this good stuff.

I have a 40-foot wall of photo ledges with lots of photos - both mounted and framed. I started mounting them because I wanted LARGE photos without the cost of a frame. And I fell in love and mount all the time now. I also have a set of photo ledges in my stairwell, but I am considering changing that up a bit. And a couple other random collections around the house.
Quick question - do you have an easy way to hang up framed photos?

I have photo albums and scrapbooks, because our budget hasn't allowed for large-hang-on-the-wall-but-don't-look-cheap-printing. I'm hoping to get to the point where I can hand my photos, and this would be a good head start.
