Around The Room | Living With Your Photos + Color Inc Giveaway

I'm a huge fan of living with your photos. Out of albums, off your computer and onto your walls.

Over the years I've amassed quite a collection of family images - many of the recent ones being mounted rather than framed as you'll see below (and above). When I first starting hanging up photos I wanted them to be all black frames with white mats. Now I'm really enjoying the variety of both the framed and simply mounted images.

Around our house I've got quite a few gatherings happening on the walls. Some are consistent collections (meaning all mounted or all framed) and others are a mixture of the two.

The first ones I want to talk about line the hall from our entry into the kitchen.

The images are 12x12 photos are "standout mounted" from Color Inc. (Color Inc is a sponsor of my blog and has been generous with samples for me in the past and as you'll see below. This set I purchased on my own. They are excellent quality and have wonderful customer service.) When we moved into this house I ordered eight or nine of these with the intent that they would be grouped together and I love them.

They are mounted onto the wall using Miller Studio Magic Mounts removable mounting tabs. I tried a couple of other brands and these have worked the best.

You might have seen this image a couple weeks ago. This is in our dining area, between the kitchen and living room. This wall has a combination of framed and mounted images. The one of Simon and Anna in the blue shirts is from Persnickety Prints.

Upstairs I've got a few other collections starting. In the room you enter before coming into my office I've got a large standout mount from Color Inc (photo taken by Tracey Clark). That one is 3o inches x 20 inches.

In my office I've included two Ikea frames with 12x12 photos of me and Chris as kids. I enlarged these 1970's photos on my scanner and they were printed at Scrapbookpictures.com. These hung in Anna's room in our last house.

A little collage in Simon's room that includes photos, Star Wars stamps, and a signed photo of Yoda from Frank Oz.

And this one was in Anna's room in our last house. I didn't recreate it here yet, but it was a favorite in the old place.

In our bedroom I'm just beginning to build a photo wall.

The newest addition is a Framed Gallery Wrap Canvas from ColorInc. As one of my sponsors they kindly sent me this new product to review and want me to give one away as well (with your own photo of course).

Here's what they have to say about this new product:

Love the sleek modern style of a Gallery Wrapped Canvas? Now you can add a frame! Our Gallery Wrapped Canvas Frames will give you that same modern and edgy look you've wanted but with a touch of traditional style to give you a unique shadow box feel to add to any home, work, or studio wall space!

These ready to hang Gallery Wrapped Canvases come with a 2 1/8'' deep smooth black laminate frame. With a 1/2'' floating space between your canvas and frame, each of our hand wrapped canvas prints will be permanently attached with the finest attention to detail. Each piece will arrive properly finished with a wire hanger, bumpers and Tyvek® backing. A true first class upgrade to your studio or home!

These Framed Gallery Wrapped Canvases are really, really nice. I didn't realize when I was ordering it that there's a space between the frame and the wrapped canvas but when I opened the package here at home I was really pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely consider ordering another one.

GIVEAWAY | One Framed Gallery Wrapped Canvas (20 x 14 or smaller) from ColorInc.

Photos are everywhere in our home as well. I much rather see the smiling faces of my family on the walls than anything else.

In addition to a black and white gallery wall, I keep photos out on the coffee table...I'm thinking of getting Pottery Barn's photo carousel.

I have a side table in my living room filled with photos in frames. It's a great collage of frames and everyone that is important in my life is on that table.

I love this idea and especially love the photo wrapped frames. I in awe of your talent and your eye for design. I hope you don't mind, but I hope to "borrow" your idea and incorporate your photo collages (with my own family photos) into my own home!

OMG I love your collections. I had never heard of Color Inc but have already visited their site. I have two beautiful grandsons - how can I not live in my pictures; at least with the pictures I get to see them everyday. I am the photographer and the scrapper of the family and yes tend to go a little overboard. I have seen the canvas prints but have never done one . . . . I will now. LOVE LOVE it.

I so far have been very traditional about displaying my photos and I mean that I have them in just frames around the house. I'm wanting to do more photo collages but have always felt I don't have the right pictures to display. I am really going to work on getting my everyday pictures up instead of just the professional pictures. Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas!

I love living with photos. It makes me smile to look at pictures of fun times and cute nieces. Since moving into a larger home recently I feel like the walls need more photos so winning the canvas wall photo would be a great start!

Our home has multiple windows and very few walls that are big enough for photo groupings. We have a couple of small groupings in my mothers bedroom. After seeing yours, I think I am going to do one in my bedroom. I've lived here for 3 years with bare bedroom walls because nothing seemed to work. Not I know why.

I'm working on living with my photos. I do have a small display with photos and a place for my daughter to designate which family member gets all of the artwork she has created. It is quite the conversation starter when folks visit our home.

I have been wanting to try this & Color Inc for some time now...I'm just running out of wall space!!!! I currently put most photos in frames to display on coffee tables, etc. I also have had a couple fav photos painted on canvas with a favorite artists unique style. Thank you for the opportunity at a chance for a new type of print:)

I love you picture collections you have hanging around your house.
I don't have as many pictures gracing my walls as I would like mainly because we were selling the house, then not selling, then selling...so I've never really taken the time to print out the photos I absolutely love for my walls..someday it will happen!

Currently, we are renting a house so we don't have to much space but I have a shelf that has photos and I rotate new photos all the time. They vary between 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10 so I can print them at home. I love to have new photos all the time! I'd love to do some of these great canvas photos when we get "our" home!

Got a few wall collages going...baskets of minibooks...photoalbums in he car...I've recently started adding oversized photos to our home...

What's the point in taking pics if you can't enjoy them?

Scrapbooking holds all of our memories mainly. But throughout our house the only frames and portraits on the wall are of our family.

Right now I'm living with my prints in storage for the next 4 months while our house is being built. But when we move in, I have big plans; especially in my new sun room and loft. :)

We, like you, have some photo collections on our walls, but my very favourite is a huge canvas mount that our friend made for us. He photoshopped the photo a bit to make it look like a painting and then printed it himself...he actually has his own massive printer. It's about 36" x 48" on three separate panels. It's one of our favourite family photos and always makes me smile.

Your walls look beautiful Ali, love all the wall space you have. That is one thing I don't have a lot of in my house. I do make use of every little bit though if I can, even in the bathrooms. I do scrapbook so that's where most of pictures go and Project Life. The newest thing though is a year ago, I bought some black, brown, white simple frames and every month I change them to go with the holiday/season/birthday kid/ for that month. It really adds a new warm feeling for all of us when we see them. I do it while the kids are at school so that they are surprised when they get home. I add new ones and old ones. These frames are just put all around the house, they don't take place of the special ones in frames that I've had for years. We also have them lining up our staircase. My biggest dream is to make a collage on our wall one day but just not sure how to start, so this would be just what I need to get started on that blank wall. Thank you so much Ali for this. I love that you picked the one of Miss Anna in the swing, that is a favorite of mine.

When I saw your decor of how you share your family and life on your walls I just loved it. I want to do the same. I adore all the different varieties of pictures and totally would like to start hanging our lives on the wall some in frames and some with out. My husband and brother-in-law lost their mother and sister in a house fire on Christmas Eve just hours after our Christmas gathering 1 year ago last Christmas. That Christmas Eve for some odd feeling I took pictures of them four standing in front of the Christmas Tree (usually I am on the other side of the lens) But, for some reason some one was telling me to take pictures that year. The brothers have rebuilt and now both of our families share the home away from home and I think that picture would look superb in the entryway of the Lake House.(Thats what we named it) then who ever enters the home sees that awesome last picture that was taken of those two beautiful ladies with their family.
