Day In The Life 2013 | February

In January I embarked on a new project for 2013. I’m planning to do a Day In The Life the last day (or so) of each month and add the content to Project Life. You can check out that original post here.

You can see how I brought the photos and the words together above using the Day In The Life 6×12 Layered Template Set and Day In The Life 6×12 Photo Collage Layered Templates. This month I’m showing them together as a 12×12 but they will be added to my Project Life album as two separate 6×12 printed pages in a single page protector back to back.

You can find a video tutorial showing how I worked with these two layered template sets in Photoshop Elements here.

  • It was fun to do this on a day that wasn’t a regular routine sort of day. I like that this is a project you can do in a variety of situations – whether you travel, stay at home, go to an office, etc.
  • It was a bit of a challenge to remember to document stuff because I wasn’t doing things within my regular environment. I also feel like I missed out on some general life reflections that I know I had (travel seems to do that to me) but didn’t write down because I was occupied with what was happening around me. It was good for me to do this on a day that was different – new challenges, new perspective.
  • I didn’t take along my main camera (traveling light for an overnight) so all my photos were taken with my iphone. I took about 28 photos – many of which were similar to the ones I used above. Thinking next month I might challenge myself to only use my main camera and see what other sorts of images I collect.
  • I’m planning to add some additional embellishments (word stickers, etc) once I print this out and add it to my Project Life spread. I’ll share that soon.

Just love seeing your real real life. Work is such a massive part of mine and will be so for my children. Funny how much this is too glossed over when documenting what we do for our families. Thanks again for your amazing inspiration through sharing.

I was watching your video about placing two 3×4′s on a 4×6 background and JUST bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and I couldn’t even follow your video tutorial:(
    I HATE IT!!!!
The new Photoshop 11 is completely different and I already want to change to the older version. I think you have version 10?
Waaah, anyone want to exchange an old copy for my new copy? Lol…

I love that you did a work day. I started to do this in January and decided my day was too boring – all work and no kids, but you make these little windows into your world seem so interesting. And I guess that is the key – that others are interested. Might have another go. Thanks for your continued inspiration.

    Hi Ali ,

Sorry to be sending this message on this post as i am not able to reach you by mail. This is regarding Anna’s baby book.

This is a lovely baby album …..I like each and every layout in this album and have watched the Video so many time . I am expecting my 2nd baby and i am creating a album for my 4 yr old ( quite behind on that . good thing is i have atleast recorded most of the memories in my laptop. ). In the video you talk about adding new stuff to the album and putting them back in new album . Just wanted to know if there are anymore new ideas that you could share . I would also like to use the Project life album and kit for the baby book , do you have any ideas on how to incorporate that into a baby album.
    Thanks Priya !

Hi – I haven’t worked on that album in quite some time as I started Project Life not long after that. If I was going to have a baby again and create an album I’d likely use the PL baby kit and add additional page protectors for full sized layouts if I created them.
