The words.

Went through all the comments from the last few days tonight and collected all the words. Reading your words + your reasons were uplifting + inspiring. Thank you for sharing. If I missed your word leave a note in the comments section and I will add it to this list.

And there is always time to choose a word if you have not done so yet.

my word is BALANCE which is supported by the word release (as in control). I can't continue to take on everyone else's tasks (and wonder why I don't have time for a pedicure!) and when I don't take on the tasks I can't be unhappy with the way they are completed.

I'm a little late jumping on the band wagon, but would you please add my word to the list?
There are so many things I want to LEARN this year - some that I should have LEARned long ago - how to take better care of myself,
how to better manage my time, how to listen to my inner spirit, how to control my tongue! I hope to LEARN that you are never too old to LEARN!

Without knowing I chose RENEW or maybe it chose me, I used it in a scrapbook page yesterday. I love this idea and will incorporate my word. THANK YOU for the inspiration.
    p.s. I love your blog

Here's my visual cue that I made last night for my word 'ADAPT'. I love the way it came out:

Thanks for the boost! I had this on my list of things to do for 2008 and this word list helped make it happen! My word is Forward. Why I selected it is today's blog post.
Thanks for the endless inspiration!!! I'm off to buy Gel Medium today as well! ;)

    Hi Ali~
Thanks for all the beautiful words. Mine will be two. One: Light and Two: Beauty
Light because of my Mimie. When she passed on in 2005, I feel like a little piece of myself was lost. I want to shed some light back into my life.
Beauty because my husband has called me beautiful since the day we met. He keeps telling me that so that one day I'll believe him. It's time to start believing.

Hello, thankyou for sharing the list. what a wonderful idea. i've thought a bit, and the only word that returns is DEDICATION.
i've spent the last year learning to explore my creative energy, so now i want to dedicate myself my creativity, dedication to projects, to following through, to honouring creativity in myself as well as everyone else. thankyou

Ok, it has taken me quite some time, but I have finally chosen my word. My 'word' for 2008 is FLOW.
Flow means to proceed continuously and smoothly; to proceed steadily and easily; to exhibit a smooth or graceful continuity; to hang loosely and gracefully.
I have been trying to become stress free or at least have less stress in my life. To not think that everything needs to be perfect. Just go with the flow. I would like to get organized and have my life running more smoothly, steadily, easily.

Well it's also taken me a while to work this out. I thought of a couple of words like 'focus' and 'finish' but they seemed kind of nagging words (although I do need to focus and finish things off!), and then it came to me (or more accurately it was pointed out to me by my sister) that my word was 'epiphany', a moment of insight or realisation. So this year I am going to have and pay attention to, all these epiphanies!
Will need to go and blog it now!

On my birthday in August I named this year The Year of Recovery, following what had been a very difficult year. While I am not done with that process, I like the idea of starting the new year with a new focus. I chose 2 new words: RENEW from your list, which is related to my original thought yet seems more hopeful. And JOURNEY. We are all on a journey. I believe the struggles I have had this year are part my journey, and the reasons are not always evident. Sometimes there are small journeys within the larger ones.
Thanks for this list, and for everyone sharing their words and journeys.

I think I'll have to select "let it go" I'm trying to clean out cabinets and let go of things- I've been a pack rat my whole life and I learned by example from my parents. I'm working on it day by day. I also have a huge mess in my scrap room that I have a path to my desk and a tiny space to work on- it's crazy! I have twin boys that will be 4 in March and I'm working on not stressing so much with them either, so... let it go! ;) Marla in KY

Well, this has taken me a r-e-a-l-l-y long time, but I've chosen the word SIMPLICITY for 2008. (And, given how much time & effort it takes me to make a decision, this is a good word for me!)
    How I am applying SIMPLICITY:
    - Paring down my stamping/crafting supplies so they are easier to keep neat (so I can spend time creating instead of looking for supplies!)
    - Learning to say no to things so as to not wind up overscheduling myself. (I had several days last fall where I was so tired I really, literally wanted to cry.) This can be no to a volunteer project, no to my kids (that one's hard!), no to something I want to do but know that I really don't have time to do.
    Thanks, Ali!

Little bit late -- my word for 2008 in "Wellness" -- I am working on losing all my maternity baggage (after having 2 babies)and rediscovering what wellness actually is to me and to recapture my body, mind, and spirit. Not only will I benefit but my wellness journey will trickle down through my husband, daughter and others that I cross path with throughout the year. This is my year!

This has been a great and inspiring read, and I think my word will be CARE-
I want to really show more care and kindness to myself and family, and handle everything I do with care and consideration.
    Thanks all!

I choose 'one word' for a year, but I go from birthday to birthday instead of the calendar year. The new word for my 40th year is MUSIC. I don't see it on your (fabulous!!) list so I thought I'd send it in :)

Four of the most beautiful things in the world that I hope to work in 2009 -
peace (which we need more of),
hope (which we should never let go of),
love (which we should always give in abundance) and
dancing (which we should do to our heart's content)!
Thanks for your uplifting posts everyday!
