Weekend in Photos + Book Signing.
Building train layouts. Seeing if he could connect all the tracks together in one loop from one end to another. This is one of those times where the parent has more fun than the kid.
Playing with the video camera + watching Ratatouille + eating some toast in Chris' home office.
Doing the laundry.
Watching the playback of Simon's at home ABC performance.
Playing with play dough on my table while I worked on the computer. This is one of those toys that had been put away for awhile and came back out on Saturday. He played with it for hours - making little Dora character molds, moving them around, having them "go to sleep" and "wake up time."
Just being thankful for everything we have.
BOOK SIGNING this SATURDAY: I will be doing a book signing this Saturday in Portland at Scrapbook Attack from 1pm-2:30pm. Come by and chat for a bit if you have a chance.
Edited: And hey, want to win a new pair of jeans? Check out my sister's blog today before 5pm Eastern.
Hi Ali,
Love to see your everyday pictures about you, chris and simon.. because you have constantly shared so much about your family...I've always felt like 'part of your family' whenever I read abt it / see pics of it :)
Yup... agree with you.. being thankful for everything we have...
Since I am located in Singapore.... it's impossible for me to be there for the book signing.. although I wish 1 day i'll get a chance... nonetheless, have an awesome time!

My son will be 10 next Monday & we finally got rid of his train table this past summer (we gave it to a friend who was opening a home daycare) & we still kept several trains & a little track as momentos. I remember my husband & I spending lots of time making tracks after our little guy had gone to bed. We miss those trains! They were great stress relievers.

Funny, I was reading your Life Artist book this weekend, and took a series of Day in the Life photos on Sunday that remind me of yours! I know you know how much you inspire others, but here's yet another reminder.
On the flip side, I really enjoyed your sister's blog. I'll have to check back often to live vicariously through her fashion! Another inspiration...

I love your book... Where can I find the page protectors by Platte Productions? A Google search was unproductive. Jacquie, Miami, Florida

Interesting to see what a wired keyboard looks like for the iMac - I chose the wireless one but it doesn't have the numerical pad or the home pageup/page down buttons... takes some getting used to!

Ali I was completely taken back at the 5th photo. I mean it's not like we don't see Simon all the time...you post his photos regularly...but something about that photo...he looks so mature...wow...I dunno...it just hit me...and I'm not even his mama. ;-)

I had to laugh at your husband having more fun with the toys - I've been making my DD doll clothes just so I'll be able to change the outfits! Life with kids is full of wonderful opportunities for fun!

Dear Ali,
My biggest photo challenge is garnering up the inspiration to take photos celebrating my life. I usually make albums from scratch and just looking at my collection, at least 15 of them are complete minus the photos. I was raised as an orphan where I spent 19 years living in the LA County foster care system and so documenting my childhood is out of the question. It was all bad and I certainly don’t want to remember that. I have a husband and two children but they resist taking photos. So I enjoy scrapbooking but I dread the photograpy part because I just don't know where to start. Or how to start. Or what moments to capture. However, I desire to record my life so my children who are grown will be able to celebrate our life together. Each evening, I search the blogs of true scrapbookers and admire the photos on their pages while hoping something will sink in so I can create beautiful pages too. It hasn't happened yet...but I'm not giving up...And I keep making these empty scrapbooks:) Thank you for sharing your experiences as a Life Artist; something I hope to achieve in my own life. You're a blessing. Always... Praisley
