Stormtroopers

[ meeting storm troopers prior to marching in the Eugene Celebration parade ]

To the bus driver as he boarded yesterday morning: "Shelia! Shelia! Guess what? The earth is moving!"

To us: "I am going to have a sister and her name is Cousin Lucy."

[ And just to clarify, Lucy is the name of Simon's cousin. His sister will have a different name. He just likes her so much that he wants her to have the same name. It has become a game for him + he laughs so hard when he tells us this will be his sister's name. ]

That's so cute! When I was pregnant with my second DS, my oldest was a little jealous and suggested we call the new baby "Ketchup". He thought it was hilarious until I suggested we change his name to "Mustard" to match.

My folks named my brother Ken, I called him Brian and introduced him as Brian to anyone who would listen. I was 4 at the time and finally got over it and called him Ken. My Mom had no idea where I got the idea to call him Brian.

    So cute!
I was born at the hospital (not common in Holland, they do a lot of homebirth here) and was in room with a bunch of other baby's. My brother point his finger against the window of that room and said: Let's take this one! (And it was me!) LOL!

Congratulations! This brought back a nice memory for me! All during my second pregnancy my daughter would point to my belly and say "that's Jenni in there!" (We were planning a different name...) When the baby was born, my 2 1/2 year old daughter and niece were skipping through the delivery room "it's Jenni! Jenni's here! Our Jenni's here!" So Jenni she became. How could we not?

my nephew has a half sister named Izabella. Now my sister is pregnant with her new partner and he is determined that this sister should be Izabella too. It's hilarious.
I asked him if maybe if the new baby was a girl could we call it Kassie and he looked at me and said "duh, we already have one of you!"

Love Simon's quotes! No matter what you name this sweet little one, her nickname will probably be 'Cousin Lucy'! Too cute.

Where have I been???? Really I don't know but it wasn't on your blog; I'm so sorry. I finally gave myself some Ali time and much to my surprise I read something about a little sister for Simon.... huh???? So I hopped in your archives and there it was - just after me having a scrapbooking break you posted about this little wonder you're expecting. The result: 1159 comments. Well dear inspiring Ali here's number 1160! Congratulations for you and your men. I hope you will have a happy pregnancy. Enjoy and a big hug from

Wow, fun giveaways! I want to create an album with sensory memories from childhood - you know, smells, sounds, that remind you of things.

Simon must have been so excited to meet the Stormtroopers! My 6yo son is a HUGE Star Wars fan. For Halloween this year he is going to be Jango Fett. Last year he was Darth Vader and Anakin (2 diff occasions).
Not sure if Simon has Hasbro Galactic Hereos, but they are great! They go to the park, in the bathtub, in the sandbox, in the pool, his sisters gymnastics, etc....
BTW - CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy (and your daughter)!! I can't figure how I missed that since I log on to your blog all the time! I saw your sis is pregnant. Must be exciting to be pregnant together!
