December Daily : Day One

December11

So much of this project is about working with what you have set up for yourself (especially if you put the foundation pages together in advance). Each time I do this project I reminded how much I like setting it up ahead. I like having some parameters to work in - a bit of direction that takes some of that initial guess-work and decision making out of the way.

Remember: this process does not have to be complicated. I said that to
myself a bunch as I felt like I needed to add more. Documenting life in
December...that's what I am doing. Nice and simple. Made especially
nice by listening to holiday music while working. I know from experience that some days will be more creatively complicated than others.

HOW TO : Print out photos 6 inches x 9 inches and trim around the acrylic deco page using a craft knife (love this one from Fiskars especially for going around rounded corners). Add ribbon and strip sticker directly to the photo. Print out Holiday title & journal photo overlay, cut to size, adhere to back of acrylic, and journal. White pen defining the edge is the Sharpie poster paint pen (not certain it is available anymore). Black journaling pen is a Precision Pen in .03 from American Crafts.

It's hard to see in the photos here but there is a piece of acrylic
that is holding the journaling blocks on the front and back (it's what
gives the bracket shape that you can see on the photo page). The
journaling blocks are adhered to the front side and the back side of
the acrylic to hide the adhesive.

As of right now there is nothing on the back of the photo page. I plan to use that space for something on the 2nd. Sometimes I do the back for the same day depending on how much space I need, how many photos I have, etc.

Here's a look at the before image of the album for December 1:

Thanks for the detailed instructions! You make it so easy for me to follow along. Question for you - how do you cut the acrylic pages in half?? Aren't most of them too thick for scissors or trimmers? Please let me in on the secret! Also, how do you punch holes in them?? THANK YOU!

Love your first page Ali! I got too tired by the time my photos loaded onto my computer last night so I already have some catching up. Luckily I've taken your advice and journaled already. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!

Ali, thanks so much for the inspiration!! I want to download the daily templates from Designer Digitals (set of 5) but wanted to know what size they are? Are they 12x12? If so, can they be resized to 8x8? Sorry if this is an obvious thing but I am a digital newbie.
    Thanks!

Loooking at your post from yesterday, I was curious about the December Daily Template Package. What page size are the templates designed for? I couldn't find any info at Designer Digitals on what size the pages are. Thanks for the help! Donna

Thank you for sharing this journey. This will be my first time doing this project and Im so geeked about it. Im also glad to get to use some of those holiday supplies that I never use enough of.
One question for you...I'd really like to see how you store all these wonderful creations you make. All the full-size scrapbooks, mini-books, etc. Are they on a bookcase? In a closet? On a shelf? They are wonderful works of art, and Im just curious how you display/store them all!

Great stamps, Ali! I love them. :)
Also, I wanted to drop by to tell you I couldn't resist the December Daily idea, so I made myself a little 4x4 mini... and then my six-year old wanted to play too. James and I are going to have a ball with this. I've already posted our December 1st pages on my blog. Thanks for the inspiration!

I am soooo happy that I am doing this! You were completely right when you said the trick was to get it all assembled ahead of time. Now it is just a fun, relaxing thing to do in the evening...no guesswork, just the fun of finishing it off! Thanks for all the inspiration!
