Threethingsjan14

This week we are taking a peek at a couple Valentine/Love related products. Look for another round of three next week - there are just too many cool things out there for creating projects that celebrate those you love.

• Thinking a little tiny bit about Valentine projects (must be all the pink). Planning to use my new "Loving Stamps" from Technique Tuesday on something Valentine related. You can also pick up a similar digital version called "Loving Life Word Art." You can download the new Technique Tuesday 2009 Winter Supplement (pdf)
to see the entire line of stamps (or go here).

• Speaking of Valentine's, one of my favorite product lines from CHA last summer
(the big Craft & Hobby show) was from Little Yellow Bicycle called "Love Letters." I love the cardstock stickers (shown above),

• This wonderful print that is going to hang somewhere in my house (maybe in the baby's room or a bathroom) from isophotography (found via poppytalk handmade). It would make a great gift for a loved one.

• And one more lovey thing I couldn't resist this week: little love notes tickets from Making Memories.

For Valentine's Day, my husband and I usually cook dinner together and have a quiet candle-lit dinner at home. Nice and cozy!

we don't really have any traditions for valentine's day. my son's birthday is feb. 8 and mine is feb 24 and our anniversary is march 1 so we kind of skip valentine's day and do things for our special days instead.

We usually celebrate with a nice dinner at home. Before I had my son, we would be able to linger over dinner and a bottle (or two) of wine. Now it's a little less leisurly, but just as nice. We always exchange cards and love letters, more often than not mine is handmade.

I will be making heart shaped pancakes or french toast for breakfast, sandwiches will be cut into hearts for lunch along with a few kisses in my boys' lunch boxes. I will also include a valentine in their lunch boxes. While they are at school, I bake a heart shaped cake for all to enjoy after dinner.

When I was growing up, my mom used to make valentines for each of us kids. She'd use whatever craft supplies were on-hand (think glitter, construction paper and doilies), but the sentiment was always very sweet. I've even saved a few of my favorites.
I've carried on the tradition with my own kids (although now my supplies are a little more sophisticated). They are still too little to truly appreciate what's going on, but I hope that over time it will become a cherished memory for them just like it has for me.

While I will buy tons of candy sweethearts and keep the red decor up in the house for a bit longer, my husband and I don't actually celebrate Valentine's Day specifically (my husband hates feeling forced to celebrate love on a 'commercial' holiday, ha!). Instead, a few days before or after Valentine's Day my husband surprises me with a full 'Aaron loves Karrie' day where we do fun stuff together for a full day instead of normal everyday things. (last year we spent the day horseback riding, hiking, and then got dressed up for an elegant evening out - it was wonderful!)

Valentine's Day in our house is all about the HEART. I start the day making Heart Pancakes with Strawberry Syrup for my girls to have before school... and end the day with Chocolate covered Strawberries for... well...enough said.

My husband and daughter always get mini cards left for them to find in the morning...we usually do take out on the way home from work and do cards/gifts then. Nothing too fancy, just a little something each one of us has been eyeing. :)
BTW-those album kits are too cute!

I LOVE Valentine's Day! But, since I'm going through a divorce and I don't have children, I'm going to start some NEW traditions this year. I plan to do something special for my nephews and niece that I can continue from year to year. I'll be reading all of the comments here for some great ideas.
As always, thanks for the awesome give-aways and inspiration, Ali!

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays. Love all the red and pink. We will usually go out to dinner with the small one to one of our favorite family friendly restaurants. I have these cute red heart plastic plates that I will serve breakfast and lunch on. I usually get something small for the kid and something for the husband. This year it will just be a small token for both since finances are tighter this year. Mostly I just enjoy being together with my two valentines.

Valentine's Day is at the top of my list of favorite things. Is there anything better than showing the people you love just how much you LOVE them? A special project would do just that. Love your blog.

We celebrate Valentine's Day with our children. We make & decorate heart shaped sugar cookies, cook a s;pecial dinner with an favorite from each family member. We also take a special Valentine's Day photo to send to loved ones far away. It's a great day to show our love for each other. We also give the kids each a little gift - this year it will be scarves hand made by me in colors each girl picked out.
    Thanks!!

When we were first dating my future husband gave me a fossil, as he is a geologist this was probably the most romantic thing he could have done. He said that flowers will die and be gone, but the fossil would be around for ever to remind me of his love. I tend to handmake old fashioned valentines to send to my brothes and sisters, sort of a tradition. I hope to inspire the next generation to carry on this tradition. Having been together over 20 years now, my husband and I say no "gifts" (really what could be better than the fossil - and we still have it in our backyard), but we do end up surprising the other with a little funny card or note or memory. It's our personalities to make each other laugh and what attracted us to one another. One year we went on a "Love Mission to Mars" at Chabot Space & Science Center - a unique and very memorable way to share an experience for Valentines. This year, I am still thinking, I may borrow and idea from this blog, or will have to put the dog up to something for another funny memory on Valentines.
    Happy Hearts Day!

My husband and I do 7 days of celebrating our love. Little love notes hidden in drawers, tiny presents tucked under pillows, lots of fun little surprises. We don't spend a lot of money but we go out of our way to spend a week appreciating each other.

I have little mailboxs that I set out on the 1st of Feb. for my kiddos. Everyday they chack them and find a little surprise. On Valentine's Day the mailboxs are filled with goodies for them.
My husband and I always make it a point to go to dinner on the 14th.
Thanks for the chance to win. Star

This has to be my 2nd most favorite holiday to celebrate! I love all of the pinks, browns and reds and anything that has to do with love. Every year the girls receive a little goodie bag of love day stuff. Something that I know they really look forward to.
