Get It Scrapped is giving away one spot in Pattie Knox's "More Mad Digital Skillz" online workshop.

Pattie Knox’s favorite part of digital scrapbooking is learning new techniques for creating realistic--as in “I can’t believe that’s not paper!”--layouts. In “More Mad Digital Skillz,” you’ll learn how to create torn edges on your photos and papers, how to insert photos into type, Pattie’s method for digital dry embossing, and much more about making your own brushes, working with custom shapes, and creating depth and interest with texture. Each lesson is accompanied by beautiful digital products from the talented artists at Designer Digitals—including Ali Edwards! Class starts May 25th at Get It Scrapped!

I started carrying around a little digital recorder so that I could record any random thought I may have at that particular time. Then, when I have the time to listen and transfer into whatever format I need, I just hit "play". It date and time stamps it, too. Perfect for my morning commute when all my "inspiration" hits.

My best tip to just write down the story you want to tell as soon as you get your pictures back from the store. This way everything is vivid and fresh in your mind.

best journaling tip.... for me ... if i want a whole story is to tell it thru my blog first.... the best stories that I later scrapped - we first born on my blog..... seems kind of backwards but I seem to remember more details this way..... and it's easier for me to just print out my story and then cut it up for a layout or mini project......

My tip isn't really a tip, it's just the suggestion that you just WRITE. If you start writing about an occasion or an event (just type into a word document or on a scratch pad) something will eventually come together.

If I am on jam-packed vacation I take a small notebook and write everything down daily. When I work on those photos I will do just a whole page of journaling, sometimes I will journal on a tag for each day.
When I pull my pictures and paper together to do a layout I usually write down notes so that I can journal after I've done my l.o. I love the acrylic journaling stamps and have many of those in different sizes and will use those. If I have a lot of journaling, I will type the journaling on the computer (I seal the paper with a Krylon sealer after printed).

My best journaling tip would be to pretend you're telling someone the story you want told...except instead of speaking it to someone, write it!

Write something EVERY day! A diary, a blog, a notebook for cute kid quotes and notes. Then use what you have written as the basis for your journalling.

My best tip... Get someone else to do the journaling. Seriously!
I love having my kids write their stories in their own handwriting on my layouts. Their view point can be quite different from mine and often very funny. And it's a record of their handwriting at different ages.
I think they will love looking back on these layouts even more so than the pages I have journaled on.

What I love to do most is to 'talk' to the child the layout is about, my son or my daughter. Tell them the story, like no-one else like them is ever going to read my journaling.

I just jot down a few line and then go back and fill in the gaps. This help me remember things better.

I always have a journal with me to jot down thoughts and observations of the everyday. Keeping a journal helps me organize my thoughts when it’s time to put together my pages. I also have my husband proofread my outlines for spelling.

I always try to keep it simple to the eye and then hide any extra. I right down in either a small notebook or just a plain piece of paper my ideas and go over and over on how to put it to scrap it as best as I can

Happy Wednesday! I love to "speak" in the first person - having the subject of the page give their thoughts/feelings about the photographs.

This give away is soooooo yummy I would love to have a chance of being a lucky poster.
My journaling it is to ALWAYS have a note book with me. I jot down the date and any little comment, observation or conversation that I want to remember. And with 5 little grandchildren, there is plenty to record. Another tip is when I journal, I talk to the person in the photo and also mention things like weather feelings etc.
    Cheers, Irene :)

Be true to yourself and be honest. You don't have to come up with a "cute" phrase to make your page. You just need to be honest about what's going on. Your pages need to have journaling that is true to how you are as a person.

I keep a journal in my purse and on the desk where I write about a memorable event. While its still fresh I write down details like kids quotes, funny moments and why is was so memorable. Usually there is a photo that goes along with it. Its sketchy sometimes but it is enough to jog my memory when I am ready to document the moment. I "collect the moments one by one" so to speak (there is a song by Feist with that line in it - I love it).
For story telling I keep in mind information that I would've liked to have known when looking at old photos of my grandparent & family. Lots of photos - no words. I know the questions I would ask now had I been there -- and so I keep that in mind for my own stories.

I keep a 'notes' section for each week in my planner. My family's activities for that week are noted in the agenda section and I use the notes to jot down ideas or quotes for journaling.

You know I tell myself that I'm going to write it down on a scratch piece of paper but I get so excited about finishing a page and getting my thoughts down I just do it... honestly - I like the mistakes, they make the page real :)

I don't really have a "tip", but if I write, I just keep writing just the way it is in my head. It way sounds funny when you read it grammar wise, but it brings the emotions out.

One thing I do is carry a small notebook with me in my purse with a pen and write down in point form. Secondly, I write the story of the day on the back of my layout so in years to come i'll just flip it over and the story of that moment is there.

Super awesome giveaway! I journal everyday regardless of whether I can think of anything to write about. Most of the time I have more to say than I think I do!

My journaling tip is to use rough drafts! It helps so much to really think through exactly what you want to say, so you don't run out of room for important details or accidentally leave something out!
