Our summer traditions include going to our local parade...it helps that it goes right in front of our house, too!

Ever since we moved up to Virginia, our favorite summer tradition has been to take the children camping near the Chesapeake Bay. The kids love fishing for crabs...

My favorite summer tradition is picnics at the park - a lazy summer afternoon spent eating BBQ and junk food and playing with my nephews.

Popcicles - aren't they the best!? We don't have them any other time of the year...truly a summer treat! Best around the neighborhood pool with (sticky) friends!

With a new baby in my home, I hope to make some new summer traditions! Can't wait to have water gun fights with him :)
My favorite tradition so far, are our summer bbq's with some good friends, good food and chatting and laughter into the little hours of the night, next to the camp fire. Must call everyone to set one up soon again!

A favourite summer tradition in our house is a 'happy summer' celbration...
on the first morning after the last day of school the little ones wake up to a 'happy summer' hand-made card (inside we write about how proud we are of them for completing another great school year) and a few presents. The presents are a mix of one or two little toys and books and workbooks to read and work through over the summer. They really seem to like it and I like that we are celebrating and still emphasizing the joy of books and learning.

My favorite summer tradition is to go for a late night swim with my husband to cool off and chat about the day. It's such a peaceful time for us to catch up.

Every other summer our family gathers at the Jersey shore for a weeklong family reunion. We rent two houses so we can be close and we spend the week: at a big picnic, a softball game, at the waterpark, a night on the Boardwalk, walking up the Cape May lighthouse and definately Springer's ice cream!

On the first day of summer vacation my kids and I eat ice cream sudaes for breakfast. One year I even made waffles with chocolate cake batter. Yum!

It's a very British summer tradition of our family (& many other Brits too!) but we always have strawberries for the start of the Wimbledon Tennis tournament. You know summer has arrived when there are strawberries & tennis! Mmmmmmm!!! :o)

Every summer our entire extended family gets together for a 4th of July BBQ. It's like our annual family reunion! Everyone brings food to share, and we cook and chat and set off fireworks in the driveway ~ the adults enjoy it as much as the kids and it's great to all get together like that!

On those hot, hot days when nobody is really hungry (and I can't bear the thought of cooking) instead of dinner, we eat strawberry shortcake from a shared platter. Ummmm.

We just returned from what is sure to be a new family tradition...We spent the weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason OH. We had a wonderful time playing at the waterpark from sun-up till sun-down.

We always go to the beach and rent a house and stay for a week. We get to scrapbook together and just be girls. My mom ], aunts, and niece and sister in law all go. It is the best time and I ALWAYS look forward to it.
