168 Hours : Welcome To A Week In The Life

What do 168 consecutive hours of your life look like?

YOU CAN DO THIS.

Here's one of my favorite quotes to send you on your way:

And while it takes courage to achieve greatness, it takes more courage to find fulfillment in being ordinary. For the joys that last have little relationship to achievement, to standing one step higher on the victory platform. What is the adventure in being ordinary? It is daring to love just for the pleasure of giving it away. It is venturing to give new life and to nurture it to maturity. It is working hard for the pure joy of being tired at the  end of the day. It is caring and sharing and giving and loving…
Marilyn Thomsen

I invite you to simply take a deep breath and enjoy the process. Capture those little things that you pass by everyday or those little bits of life that really do make up your everyday existence.

I also encourage you to approach this project with what I call the past perspective. Think about what you wish you knew about your parents, grandparents, etc and document those things - simple routines, thoughts, feelings, the hours of ordinary life. Let those thoughts be your guide this week as you document your own daily life.

Ali, do your Designer Digital Journal Cards have a white or grey background? I'm seeing white, but they print grey.

Okay---Here I go! Both feet plunging in!
My first photo today was my clocks (I have 4 lined up on a shelf) at 4 a.m. today--my bedtime :-)
I've never tried such a project and hope I can actually make it through to Sunday night ;-)
Thanks for any inspiration I will be gaining from all of you! :-)

    Hi Ali!
I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU for the awesome journaling cards that you created. They are SOOO easy to work with and I filled out several of them over the weekend (I always start with Saturday). I love this project and am enjoying remembering that "this is life." Thanks again!

Thanks for the inspirational quote to start the week off! I'm excited about this project. When you did it in Fall 2008, I managed to do a day...which turned out wonderfully, since that day was my 30th birthday...but this time, I'm looking forward to documenting the whole week. Happy Monday! =)

Good Morning!! Today has been an exciting ordinary day thus far. What's funny is that even the mundane task of laundry has become more fun when I snap a few photos of dresser drawers and clothes hanging in closets... I decided to write my journaling points on my blog and I'll transfer them or just print the blog entry later. I express myself better in type than handwriting...
and I agree... the quote would be FABULOUS for the entry page. :)

That quote is so amazing. I need to use that for my son's coop preschool. The parents would enjoy it just as much as I did. I am nervous about this week. I feel in a panic because life, as it normally does, got in the way of my time to prepare for this week's adventure. I am going to just go for it anyway and hope to come out at the end with some sort of album. You inspire me Ali. Your blog is my FAVORITE to follow. In fact, with as busy as life is right now, I make sure to check in to see what's going on with your blog almost exclusively.

i know im not unique but, the thing i think is most special about me is the fact that i overcame alcoholism and have been sober for almost 7yrs despite great odds. thats why i love your scrapbook philosophy of one-day-at-a-time documentation so much.

This will be my first try at doing this and I'm so excited! Started yesterday and think I'm going to have a difficult time narrowing down the photos. I captured so much! Have a question though...I have got my DH on board with this project as well. He is across country for part of the week (his job) and he will also be taking photos on a daily basis while DS and I capture life at home. Do you have any advice on how to combine these two perspectives together in the album. Any hints, ideas, suggestions, are greatly appreciated!

Just have to share that I have my teenage sons and husband engaged in this, too. They are snapping pix of THEIR "8-5" world on their iPhones and texting them to me. Man, oh, man - is technology great or what!! I'll email them to myself - pop them into templates - voila'! FAMILY LIFE DOCUMENTED!

Something special. I learned to read at four using the book "We Come and Go"... a book about Dick,Jane and Sally. (My mom was the inspiration for Sally.)My grandmother Elizabeth Rider Montgomery wrote the first of those books in the 30s. Now my son is learning to read with them!

What's special about me? Well, lots of things :) But ... everybody is special and unique. I love my three kids. I enjoy making things for people. I try very hard to be a good wife and a good mother. I'm an army wife and have therefore been raising our three kids alone for the past 9 months ... I'm very creative and good at getting things done. Sometimes that gets me in trouble when people just want me to calm down and leave them alone ... but I do get things done!
Your giveaways are absolutely amazing!!! Way to go!
    Thank you!

People have always said that I am a "wise soul" and I am finding that to be more true as I grow into myself -- I think that is pretty special. :) Thanks for hosting a week of fun. I NEED to do this project but don't know if I have the stamina this week....I'll give it my best shot!

WOW! So exciting all the sponsors! I am SO excited to do this adventure. Ali I follow your blog almost daily and I've just never done this and I'm not sure why. I have captured pictures of almost everything today so far. Nothing too exciting but I'm documenting! Can't wait to see the end result!

Good morning to all - I'm excited to get started on a project that actually has an "END" to it. I've studied your blog and read all the comments (but aren't as organized as Aby) - so it may be the project gets done next month... but I'm writing and snapping along the way. Thanks for the inspiration and guidance for such a great project.

I am feeling completely overwhelmed by my ordinary life right now. So, I am just going to push everything aside, and take out my camera, and go find a little bit of me this week. Thanks Ali!

Excited. So don't have my papers and album and stuff ready - but that isn't stopping me. Grabbed the camera on the way out and clicking away.
One thing I did last time (and started with this morning) is taking a photo of me (using my computer) first thing in the morning. SO not a great photo, but gotta capture every moement.

I love all of these giveaways, OMG!! I think what makes me unique is that I try to look for the positive in things and I don't sweat the small stuff. I wasn't as prepared for this project as I wanted to be but I am not letting that stop me, I am moving forward and I will embrace whatever it becomes. Thanks for all the direction, inspiration and ideas!
