PEEK AT THE PROCESS | I knew three things for sure when I started the creative process for the layout featured above:
1. I wanted to use the photo of Simon reading in the tree and I wanted it to be bigger than 4x6.
2. I wanted to use the July 2010 stamp set.
3. I wanted to use elements from the Studio Calico September 2010 kit.
I started by cutting out the strip of numbers from the Jenni Bowlin pattern paper. At this point in the process I wasn't too sure what the end layout design was going to look like but I had a general idea to use that number strip as an anchor along the bottom of the main content.
After stamping the Capture Life rectangle above on the cream cardstock I decided to repeat that basic shape using pattern papers (sometimes I just stamp and go for it). I love the technique of repetition.
To give the design a bit of variety I mixed up the height of the rectangles.
Each of the pattern paper rectangles was adhered to the cream cardstock. I added a bit of stitching around two of them. These rectangles would make great homes for additional embellishments if you were creating a page similar to this and wanted to add more.
As you might notice I ended up cutting out this whole area with the cream cardstock background and adhering it to white cardstock.
My initial plan was to have the chipboard title just along the top. I ended up adding "& Read A Book" towards the end of the process. Because that all happened at the end I trimmed some white cardstock off the top to make the margins between the edge of the chipboard letters and the cardstock even.
To complete the page I adhered it to the dark navy lined pattern paper and added zig zag stitching and a little bit of journaling.

Fun photo - and reminds me of my two. I'd love some for husband/wife/partner - we're creating our wedding/relationship album using some of your Yesterday/today ideas and I'm finding a lack of relationship celebrating stuff beyond the wedding.

I think some simple words related to parenthood/children would be nice...like patience, growth, delight, etc. And maybe a spot to records growth stats, too. Thanks!

Hello,
Hmmm . . . having just taken two cats to the vet this week I think first of pets -- they give so much love. Their short lives enrich ours and they provide plenty of stories.
A broader theme of nature and outdoors could be used in many ways.
The beauty of physical movement could also be fun--fits for all ages and is good for all.
Thanks for the opportunity to win. I am trying to think about how I could add a subscription to a my slim budget. Maybe we could eat less and put the savings into creative art supplies--food for the soul.

Just beautiful. The layout is awesome. Holidays, especially Christmas. Maybe something for young love...new and exciting, butterflies in your stomach. Then maybe follow that through the years to an older age? Not sure

Hi Ali! these stamps are great!
I would love to see just journaling lines in diferent sizes and shapes with no borders, I often find really nice lines but not thrilled about the frame so I have to cut them out, it would be nice to save that step and not waste material.

All of these stamps are awesome and your page is so cute. Love the big photo of Simon! Any stamps you design are going to be wonderful and would love to see some round ones similar to you July stamps.

I'd like to see some words/phrases to describe those not so good times in life...like a death of a loved one, an operation, a depressing time or times we all go through-not uplifting phrases or words but just those things that happen to everyone and I think are important to document. Not the stuff you put on display for everyone to read.

I would love to see a set with a home theme, since lots of life's little moments happen at home. I'd also love to see a set celebrating pets and a school years set. And travel too. So many ideas for new stamps! I'm excited about this club and the opportunity to get a new stamp set each month. Thanks for the chance to win.

Beautiful layout. I would to see a stamp set of mixed sentiments that would work for scrapbooking and card making: happy birthday, congratulation, love you, happy today, etc.

I'm drawn to graphics so any fun shapes would be cool. Or vintage letters/numbers similar to those from an old typewriter or poster.

I'd like to see something food related. I take pictures at all the holidays and there are always lots of photos of food.
Or quotes. While some might think they are limited use, I share my stash with friends so they would get passed around a lot.

I love stamps with patterns on them - geometric shapes, lines, etc. I find I go back to these over and over for many types of projects.

What a great giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity to win. I might just have to subscribe if I don't win.
I'd love to see a stamp set that I could use on all of my Disney projects... but it doesn't have to be Disney specific. A set with words like: Dream, Wish, Magic, Believe, etc... I would LOVE to see what you would come up with!
