PEEK AT THE PROCESS
| I knew three things for sure when I started the creative process for the layout featured above:

1. I wanted to use the photo of Simon reading in the tree and I wanted it to be bigger than 4x6.
2. I wanted to use the July 2010 stamp set.
3. I wanted to use elements from the Studio Calico September 2010 kit.

I started by cutting out the strip of numbers from the Jenni Bowlin pattern paper. At this point in the process I wasn't too sure what the end layout design was going to look like but I had a general idea to use that number strip as an anchor along the bottom of the main content.

After stamping the Capture Life rectangle above on the cream cardstock I decided to repeat that basic shape using pattern papers (sometimes I just stamp and go for it). I love the technique of repetition.

To give the design a bit of variety I mixed up the height of the rectangles.

Each of the pattern paper rectangles was adhered to the cream cardstock. I added a bit of stitching around two of them. These rectangles would make great homes for additional embellishments if you were creating a page similar to this and wanted to add more.

As you might notice I ended up cutting out this whole area with the cream cardstock background and adhering it to white cardstock.

My initial plan was to have the chipboard title just along the top. I ended up adding "& Read A Book" towards the end of the process. Because that all happened at the end I trimmed some white cardstock off the top to make the margins between the edge of the chipboard letters and the cardstock even.

To complete the page I adhered it to the dark navy lined pattern paper and added zig zag stitching and a little bit of journaling.

I have many of your Tech. Tues stamps and they are very versatile and fun to use. I think in the future I'd like to see some basic open shape stamps in different sizes....thinking stars and hearts along with some kid friendly words to be used with them. Also would like to see some growing up kids words, not particularly school related, but some with numbers, alphas, and ages and such.

Awesome stamps - too bad the shipping price to Canada puts the price up quite a bit - but where there's a will there's a way!
I would love to see stamps created by you with personal achievment sayings and self improvement journalling spots.

    Awesome give away.

Did you ever see that "25 random things about me" request on Facebook? I'd love to see a stamp set with "One random thing:" and "Another random thing:" and "did you know?" kind of journaling starts. I love to write them for my children. But I already drool over everything that you design, so you really don't need to do anything more. :)

Great layout! Thanks for describing your process. It's good to hear about how you went with the flow, and didn't have the whole thing mapped out ahead of time. I need to "let my layouts happen" more often! I love anything with your handwriting. How about some classy label shapes with some journaling options included or handwritten sentiments for cards. Also, maybe a set with everyday words like daily routine, today's agenda, to do list, etc. Maybe a pet set with fun sentiments and paw prints?

This is a beautiful layout - will be trying my hand at it. I agree with some of the previous posters - the stamps I reach for again and again are date related - so some more of those! Thanks so much!
