Sponsor Giveaways | The Mother Load, Summer Card Camp 2011

GIVEAWAY | One person will receive a spot in Lain Ehmann's upcoming 13-week online class at Big Picture Classes: The Mother LOAD: A Scrapbook Marathon

SPECIAL OFFER | In addition to receive $20 off of The Mother LOAD use code: load2011

Are you a marathon scrapbooker? Do you want to be? As crazy as it may sound, scrapbookers have a lot in common with runners. Both can run into the same problems – lack of time, isolation, a routine that has become more of a drudgery than a help. The good news? You can easily overcome these obstacles.

No, Lain won’t make you run 26.2 miles in just a few hours – but she will challenge you to scrapbook 26 layouts in 26 days! Through The Mother LOAD - A Scrapbook Marathon, part of the 4Experts series for 2011, Lain will show you how committing to making scrapbooking a priority in your life will help you:

  • Scrapbook faster

  • Love your pages more

  • Actually USE your stash

  • Connect with what you love best about this hobby of ours

The first two months of class will be spent on “basic training” to increase your stamina, refine your process, and get you mentally and physically ready for the ultimate challenge: creating a layout a day for the first 26 days of September. After you cross the finish line, there will be time for reflection – and celebration!

For more information, and to register, please visit The Mother LOAD.

I loved this idea to let your mechanically-minded kid take apart a broken/thrifted electronic device to see how it works:

    These are true opportunities--thank you!
ExchangeEveryday, a daily e-newsletter that focuses on early childhood, is something that I read everyday as part of my daily work as an Infant Toddler Specialist. I am regularly informed and inspired. Friday’s message was particularly meaningful for both the message and the images. http://www.childcareexchange.com/eed/news_print.php?news_id=2816
A second part of the meaning was that it reminded me of a particularly inspiring teacher, friend and colleague. A number of years ago she challenged me to reflect on what infants and toddlers learn about what is acceptable (eating at the table or eating in the car...); who has power (fathers, mothers, or elders); when they are invited to join in; who does what work; etc. These are powerful lessons of infancy and early childhood. We need to constantly be aware and sensitive to the fact that we may be introducing lessons that differ from the families’. Reflecting on each of our childhood experiences can support our ability to build relationships with all peoples.
Thank you ExchangeEveryday and thank you Sandy Petersen.

I have just returned from my year end conference where I got to meet with other reading teachers from around my state, share ideas, draw from their inspiration and can't wait to dig in and apply what I've learned to my summer camp and next year's program. Talk about a motivating group of ladies!
