Hello Age Four | Traditional Scrapbook Layout For Scrapbook Soup & Free Download
I had the awesome pleasure of traveling to Cleveland, Ohio earlier this week to tape a couple segments for a scrapbook TV show - Scrapbook Soup - that airs on PBS. You can check your local listings here or view segments on the web here. I'll let you know when my segments air later this year.
One of the hosts of Scrapbook Soup is my friend and awesome artist/memory keeper Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. Other guests taping on the same day as me included Kelly Purkey, Ronda Palazarri, Nancy Nally and Kim Hupke (from Spellbinders).
For the show I did one traditional layout that I'm sharing today and one Project Life spread that I'll share next week.
Here's my layout:
Square punched grid layouts have long been a favorite way for me to bring words, photos and embellishments together. This layout features 2.5 inch x 2.5 inch squares. Each square includes either a photo, a pattern paper/embellishment combination, or a hand-drawn element cut with a Silhouette.
I started out by gathering my photos together into two Photoshop pages and then punched them using Marvy's 2.5 inch punch. I have gotten so much mileage out of that punch over the years.
When choosing my photos I looked for some that were up close and some that were farther away.
Letter sticker + wood arrow + a bit of embroidery floss.
Love those wood circles. I also added hand-drawn borders to a couple of my photos using a Precision Pen.
Patterned paper + Good Day Stamp + white ink + a couple sequin/mini-brad combos.
For the photos I adhered some with rolling adhesive and others with foam squares to pop them up a bit off the page.
My journaling goes around the outside of the page in the form of a letter to Anna about how awesome she is and I also added a bit of white ink all the way around the outer edge of the page.
FREEBIE | I've included the hand-drawn files for hello age 4, love you and sweet girl for you as well. Download the PNG files here.

Ali, I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! Have always loved your grid pages, still have the old ones of just Simon. So nice to see a pretty girlie one, this is precious and beautiful!
So cool to see the close-ups and especially the faraway ones, seems I don't do these kind as much now. Looks great having the mix of the two.
Your writing is beautiful around the edges and writing on photos is a favorite always for me.
Was so excited to see on your IG that you were finally in my neck of the woods. I live about half hour away and couldn't believe all you amazing ladies were in town. Would be so cool to meet you and the others. Maybe you could come back one day for a class?? HINT HINT!
Thanks for the freebie too, so nice to put that there for us!
Can't wait to sign up for your class, still saving up and hope to have enough just in time. The new PL kits are at my Archivers this weekend though and I'm so tempted to go but some mini kits, will see how strong my willpower is, ha!
Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing this awesome page. Oh and congrats on being a guest on the show, so cool and hope to see it!

Hurray for grids! The layout looks fabulous. (I always love the way you put together traditional layouts. It's so fun to see you making more of them these days) I like the idea of hand-drawing borders onto photos. I will have to remember that for the future. Thank you also for the png files. I know I will get great use out of them!

Glad to know what size the squares are. I did something similar and it just wasn't working. Have to try a different punch size

Cute layout! Is the good day stamp going to be in a digital version? I checked dd, but didn't find it. Love the stamp. I checked and scrapbook soup isn't carried on my pbs station either-so will watch it online when available. Will you post when it is to view? Planning to sign up for your newest class.
