Ampersand (&) Story Kit + August 2021 Stories By The Month

This month we are focusing on stories related to the theme of Ampersand (&).

This month we are playing around with a piece of type that is one of my favorites: the ampersand. As we play with that as a design element we are also identifying + telling stories of the “and” space (as my friend Liz Lamoreux calls it): the space between where we feel multiple feelings all at the same time. Join us this month as we dive into ampersands.

Initial story ideas for this theme include:

  1. Do you have an “and” story. You & me. Highs & lows. Pick one and tell it.

  2. Ampersands can be the coolest shape. How can you incorporate one into a story you have on your heart right now?

  3. Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise” is all about continuing on + persevering. Tell a story about an “I rise” moment in your own life.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/the-history-of-ampersand. In French "et" is the word for "and." I learned at a pub night trivia the letters were merged to make the ampersand. Even though I use the word "et" every day it never had occurred to me. This kit going to be a lot of fun!

I love the Stories by the month set but never use the stamps. Are for the future sets planned without stamps?

Hi - not at this time - the stamp is one of the core pieces of that particular kit.
