Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway

YT_giveaway

In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking: Yesterday & Today.

It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.

And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.

Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:

• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.

• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.

• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.

• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).

• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.

• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.

• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).

• This workshop is a chance for you to:

  1. investigate your past through words + photos

  2. do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)

  3. tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth

  4. work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow

  5. celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today

  6. connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives

• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.

I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.

I hope to see you there.

Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

Thank you for the opportunity...I would like to document my family's farm in Illinois and how my bothers and I were the fifth generation to grow up on that farm!

My dad's influence on my life and others... he died when I was in high school, and now I feel such a strong need to preserve those memories and to share them with my husband and kids who never had the chance to meet him. Thanks for this opportunity!

Hmm, I'm so busy thinking about my life now and my kids that I don't think about my scrapbooking my own childhood. Maybe our valentine's day bonfire and sled ride. Thanks for the chance.

I would really love to participate in this. There are stories about my childhood that need to be told. How my biological parents met in the airforce, how I was born in Germany at an airbase. How my mother left us when I was just four and my sister one. How my dad rose up to the occassion and raised us. How a wonderful woman entered my life and became my new mom. So many stories to tell and honestly, I don't know how. So yes, I could really use this class. Thanks for the chance.

I would like to document what I thought about myself, who I was and what my dreams were at 15, and what that looks like at 35. I'd probably learn a lot!
Thanks for the opportunity to turn the subject to ourselves, Ali. I very rarely do that in my scrapbooking - need to do it more.

Being an identical twin-how it has affected my identity & our relationship. Now I need to convince her to do it alongside me, from her perspective. How cool would that be?

I so want to take this class. A story I would like to share is the joy of coming from a family of 8 and the relationships that I share with my siblings.

    Hi Ali
Thanks for the chance to win a spot in your class. (I already tried two other times at other sites and didn't, so I'm guessing three times is the charm!)
Your prompt about 12 stories in a blog post back in July gave me an incredible wealth of ideas for the stories I need to tell.
One story I'd like to tell during the Y&T class is the The Parallel Lives of Yolibu & Denise. Yolibu is my grandmother and I am always amazed at how similar our lives have been (from students, to wives, to expats, to mothers, to career women) considering the different world and generations we were born into.
    Voila! Wish me luck :)

I just turned 49 a few days ago and I want to go back through my old photos and memorabilia to acknowledge 365 people (inspired by laura kurz and her 365_days_ to_30) Wow! I was looking for a super inspirational way to prepare myself for turning 50 and I think that celebrating the people I've met along the journey of life is the perfect way. I was thinking about making up some postcards with old photos on it and sending them out to each of these people and see if I can reconnect with them! Thanks Ali and Thanks Laura for this idea! I'll keep you posted with how it goes!

I would really like to go back and document all the great simple memories of my childhood, like riding our bikes around the neighbourhood, and playing in the woods, something our kids just are not allowed to do so freely now, exciting!

I would like to document "me in the now." I spend so much time scrapbooking and documenting my children, that I never take the time to document myself. I would love to spend time creating a mini-album comparing my hopes, dreams, aspirations 10 years ago versus today.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I think that I'd like to document the steps along my way to having faith in God. That's probably the most important story about what I believe and who I am that I'd want to share with my kids, but it's hard to write down.

When I was about 8 years old my poor 16 year old brother was made to take me on the mass transit bus to my piano classes. He has been gone for 20 years and I would love to document how he started his love affair with his guitar and writing music because he was bored just waiting for me to finish and all the goofy stuff we talked about on the ride home. Special times.

I'm new to digital scrapbooking and would really love to document my grandparents beloved house that they recently had to sell. This was the type of house where there were stories in the walls and the carpet. Another family member, whom I don't want to forget.

I want to document the strong independent women in my family from my mum, to my great great grandma's I have photos going back over 100 years & know a little about all of them from story's told me when I was young I now don't want those stories & pictures lost in time, I want them to be remembered for the amazing women they were! I was lucky enough to share a special relationship with both my mothers mother(grandma) & (great grandma)her mother & I would like to pass this on to the next generation.
Thanks for the oppotunity to win, good luck to everyone! seeya hugya *G*
