Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway

YT_giveaway

In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking: Yesterday & Today.

It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.

And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.

Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:

• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.

• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.

• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.

• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).

• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.

• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.

• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).

• This workshop is a chance for you to:

  1. investigate your past through words + photos

  2. do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)

  3. tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth

  4. work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow

  5. celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today

  6. connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives

• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.

I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.

I hope to see you there.

Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

    Hi Ali,
I want to document the story about how my life changed when my brother died while he was born. How that affected me, my parents and our life.

I would like to document the relationship between me and my sisters... our family is one brought together by a couple of marriages (and divorces) and people are always amazed at how close we are when we haven't know each other our entire lives or share the same biological parents. I'd really like to get our special story down but I'm just not sure how to begin!

Now that my daughter is on her way, I want to make sure that she knows her grandparents (my parents) as well as I do and understand the relationship I have with them. I always, always want to make sure she understands how much family means and to appreciate them.

All the small things I've done that my kids are to young to understand right now, but that I may never get around to telling them when they are old enough.

I would document the stories of all my pets over the years. They relate me to specific times in my childhood, plus I think my kids would like to know the stories and see that I was an animal lover even back then.

I would love to document the relationship and dynamics of my siblings and I when we were children. I haven't done that yet and I would like have that recorded for us to treasure for years to come.

I have a stuffed dog that I was given on my third Christmas. I still vividly remember receiving him. I took that dog everywhere and he has remained with me even after all the other stuffed animals found new homes. Now he resides with my 2-year-old son who loves him as much as I do. I'd like to tell some of the things that LeMutt saw as we grew up.

One of the many stories I would like to document about my life include:
The battle my brother and I had over kitten naming rights when we were in primary school, when HE COPIED my idea of calling my cat Custard - he called his Super Custard and inadvertently ended up with a much cooler cat name. I still harbour resentment over his blatant plagiarism and the accolades he received resulting from having a much better name for his cat. (....maybe...! *ha*)
Thanks for the fun prompt Ali, I think it was your post before about your dog that made me think of that memory about the cats. HOpe your class is awesome!

I would like to document the story of me and my hand-made yellow poncho. I remember loving it, wearing it often but I don't remember the story of how I got it. I have pics (some quite faded!) and hopefully by mom remembers the story.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I would like to document for my son, how when I was 12, I started flying back to Tenn. (to see my dad's side of the family) from Seattle where I lived. I did this every summer until I turned 23. I was split between 2 families, so to speak.

The people who've been influential in my life, many of whom are now deceased - my Dad, my Gran, and my Grandad (who, thankfully is still with us). It's such a huge task, I simply haven't known where to start, and really would love the opportunity to embark on this journey with you.
