Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway

YT_giveaway

In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking: Yesterday & Today.

It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.

And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.

Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:

• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.

• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.

• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.

• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).

• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.

• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.

• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).

• This workshop is a chance for you to:

  1. investigate your past through words + photos

  2. do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)

  3. tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth

  4. work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow

  5. celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today

  6. connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives

• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.

I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.

I hope to see you there.

Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

i want to tell my childhood stories, the fun and the not so fun, before i forget them. like when my brother and sister played all day in the mud in our backyard, all the summers of canning with my mom, when i flew over the bike handle bars and slid down the hill. those are the stories i want to remember and pass along

Breast Cancer....The discovery of the lump, the treatment, the after effects, and discovering that cancer was a gift for it taught me how to live!

I have never documented my breast cancer 13 years ago. I am now ready to write down my feelings and thoughts during that time, and the scare I had 6 months ago.

I need to document how I am uniquely placed in my family as the middle child and the oldest child at the same time. I have two older sisters who are much older than I am and who left home when I was little, causing my childhood dynamic to change as I became the oldest of the three siblings left at home.

I would like to document my childhood memories of spending time at my grandparents house.....my grandma gave me my own makeup bag and let me put on makeup when I was way to young for it. I used to love to sit and watch her do her makeup.

Sounds like a great class... Being a selective scrapbooker -- RECOGNIZING and capturing the stories that really matter -- is probably the only way to ever really be "caught up" (or at least to feel comfortable with the process!). Boy, do I need help with that! Becoming a Mother is probably my want-to-document-the-most topic. Thanks!

First of all I want to say thanks to you Ali, you are doing a great work, you inspire people like me to keep memories in such a easy, clear and beautiful way and make every day count.
After reading your blog I decided to make many projects about me and my life about my kids, but the main thing is project about my family, my parents and grand parents. I live in Canada with my hubby and two sons, it`s very far from my home country. I thing it`s a great way to build a connection between my family history and history of my children(including me), my oldest already start to ask about my grand parents. I just need to keep for my kids all my memories about my childhood and people I love, some of them even are passed over long time ago.
So I have plenty of plans!
Thanks for the chance to win!

I would like to document lessons I'm learning right now as a new mother for the second time...for instance - the house can be perfectly spotless twenty years from now. Right now I need to focus on these ever-growing babies of mine.

I would like to document some of my experiences as a child growing up in Hawaii. My mom put on a home video of me as a baby the other day and I realized I don't have a lot about living in Hawaii written down.

Thanks for the opportunity to win a spot, Ali. I would like to document the bits of my life that have made me ME, and do it with heart and soul rather than surface.

I would like to document some of the stories that my 92 year old Grandma has shared with us over the years. She is an inspiration to me as she still volunteers in a consignment shop, bakes cookies for fundraisers, e-mails relatives from her homeland, and keeps busy with her friends.

Oh Ali I would LOVE to win a place in your class. I love your column and blog!!! I would like to document my unconventional yet great childhood, growing up in a small town with lots of weird pets and a father who worked as a clown!! I would also like to create more memories of my grandfather who passed away in 2003.

    Hi Ali,
I have this ongoing heritage album that is a work-in-progress! Ha! I certainly could use a ton of help trying to journal about pictures of the past generations without much data available to go with it.

I want to document the story of the hands of the women in my family. My mom and I have the SAME hands and I think my Grandma too. So...I've been wanting to take pictures of them and write about them!

I would really like to document the story of my childhood...and not just the happy parts, but all the stories from when my parents divorced that I have blocked out for so long. I think a place in your class would give me "permission" to start delving, and I really need that little push :)
