Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway

YT_giveaway

In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking: Yesterday & Today.

It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.

And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.

Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:

• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.

• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.

• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.

• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).

• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.

• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.

• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).

• This workshop is a chance for you to:

  1. investigate your past through words + photos

  2. do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)

  3. tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth

  4. work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow

  5. celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today

  6. connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives

• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.

I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.

I hope to see you there.

Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

I would love to document stories about my grandparents - they were such amazing storytellers and I want to get everything down before it's forgotten.

I'd love to document some silly little stories from my childhood- like the time my sister and I were messing while eating caramel apples and mine flew off its stick and stuck to the fireplace.

I would like to piece back together the great parts of my childhood. Not that it was horrible, just that I was a 3rd child, so there aren't a lot of photos to match up with memories.

To tell my story of growing up. You know, all those things that we don't hear about. Like, favorite hiding spots, books read, hard times, and how it made me the person I am today.

I must have 15 albums underway at the moment. I am a "Grandma - G-ma - Mom" (well you get the picture). I am raising two of the grandkids and had four of my own. I am the keeper of all the family photos - today and yesterday. I love documenting and journaling. I am a retired English teacher and technical writer so it comes naturally. Adding all the paper, ribbon and glue is the icing on the cake for me. Problem is...I am not a stick-to-it person. I like to do a page her and a page there. I guess I also need direction. Your class sounds like the cure!
Love reading your blog each day and seeing your little ones. Treasure the time for it goes by way too fast.

My dad and his parents all passed away by the time I was seven. I would really like to get the stories that I (and my mother) remember down before they are forgotten entirely.

I want to tell the story about "The ride and tie". My dad was one of 13 and only one horse for the kids. So when they would go to town one would "ride" a distance get off and "tie" the horse then when the walking group got to the horse the next kid would "ride" a distance then get off "tie" the horse...etc. There were usually 4 kids at home at a time the others old enough to move out. I want to tell this story and others from his childhood there's not many pictures but LOTS of stories

My memories of being raised by my single-parent mom and the special things we did even though growing up we had absolutely NO money.
I had a spectacular childhood and I am so thankful for it.

I have a box full of photos of my parents before children and some I don't know the stories behind. Both are gone now, but fortnately I still have my Aunt to help me with those stories. I have this need lately to get some of these into my heritage scrapbook I started after my mother passed away. I sit and stare at them and wonder who some of the people are in her younger days. Would love to have the opportunity to be part of this class - I know some of the pictures you have recently shown and spoke about are similar to what I have. So very cool!

Okay, what the heck I'll add my name to the mix. I would love to participate in your Y+T class, but just don't have the discretionary funds right now.
One story I NEED to document is the story of our dating, engagement and wedding. It's funny and full of twists, and I think applying your process would lend itself beautifully to that project.
Somebody will be very fortunate to win this. Maybe me.

I am a little tired of all the "me" books and would like to branch out from the beginning with some of my family heritage. I have alot of family research that needs to be presented to the non-research family members in quick short bites... like a LO. Can't wait for the winners!
