Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway

YT_giveaway

In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking: Yesterday & Today.

It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.

And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.

Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:

• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.

• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.

• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.

• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).

• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.

• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.

• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).

• This workshop is a chance for you to:

  1. investigate your past through words + photos

  2. do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)

  3. tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth

  4. work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow

  5. celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today

  6. connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives

• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.

I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.

I hope to see you there.

Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

I've always wanted to document the story about my grandma who I could never really hold a conversation with because she only spoke spanish. Starting in Jr High, I made it a mission to learn spanish in hopes I can speak to her. It wasn't until a month before she passed we actually had a real conversation. Only after she passed, I started learning who she really was through my aunts/uncles, etc. I'm the first grandchild of 33 kids (none who spoke spanish). I would like them to know about our grandma. I think I can do that by documenting her story.

I think I would like to document how I became the person that I am, coming of age in the late 60's, surviving parents that struggled emotionally and how that informed my role as a mother.
    Thanks for the give-away.

Oh my!!! This would be THE most amazing prize! I want to take this class SO bad, but don't have the $.
Anyway, I would like to share the stories of traditions my family had when we were younger. Everyone has their own life now and get-togethers aren't what they used to be. I want to be able to remember just how important all these gatherings were to me as I was growing up.

My subject would be my grandmother. Her name was Olive. I had found a book called "Olives, the life and lore of a noble fruit" Yes, this is as silly as it sounds! ...but I thought it would be a great book to alter as a base to scrapbook all of my memories about her. I've had this book for a while and havent been able to dig in. I've also just started into digital but haven't created a tangible project with elements yet... This class would be just the help and inspiration I need to get it started!

Because my daughter never got to meet them, I would like to tell the stories of my Grandparents and how they influenced me. I have some wonderful memories that I'd like to document through a scrapbook 'story' for her.

Looking forward to documenting my girls' lives, telling the stories that they may forget. There are so few photos of me as a child and VERY few of them are even labeled let alone "documented." Love that about your approach.

I would love to win... I have so much I need to document. A story I would document would be about visiting my Grandpa's family farm in Minnesota when I was 9. I love family history and feel it is so important to document yesterday as well as today for our future generations.

I would like to tell the story of me and my hubby :-D We are beating the odds of being married for we were married at 18 and have been married for almost 17 years. It has not always been easy and in fact there were moments I thought it would fracture yet we pulled it together. What I didn't know then was that he is my match, he makes me happy, shares my laughter and tears. I am blessed.

My son is currently deployed to Afghanistan and was previously deployed to Iraq. He regularly sent emails and pictures that really touched my heart. I would like to document some of them for him. Someday, I think my future grandchildren would love to read the emails their father wrote while he was away at war.

I would like to document the story of when my husband surprised me with an oak file cabinet when I became a CPA. I came home and saw it in his truck. I took one look at him and said "can we afford this?" He replied "no, but you deserve it". Thirty years later, I still have that oak file cabinet in my home office and it makes me smile to remember that young couple just starting out and that fabulous husband who thought I deserved something I knew we couldn't afford.

Hi Ali! Thanks for a chance to win a place in this great workshop.
I would like to document stories of my family and my childhood. I think my mom and dad can tell my sister and me still so much things of our childhood that we can't remember anymore. I love to look in my albums from my childhood and sometimes wonder what the story behind the photo is.
    Greetings Monique
