Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway

YT_giveaway

In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking: Yesterday & Today.

It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.

And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.

Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:

• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.

• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.

• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.

• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).

• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.

• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.

• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).

• This workshop is a chance for you to:

  1. investigate your past through words + photos

  2. do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)

  3. tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth

  4. work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow

  5. celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today

  6. connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives

• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.

I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.

I hope to see you there.

Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

    Hi Ali,
I would love to document my realtionship with my grandma when I was growing up. She took turns having sleepovers with each of her 3 grandchildren, and then she would spoil us rotten the next day - taking us out to lunch, for a movie, and a trip at the local drugstore where we could pick out a toy. She passed away about 10 years ago - I don't want to forget these things. And I hope to create these same memories with my future grandchildren.

Ali, your class sounds so inspiring. :)
I would love to create a page about my family's move half-way around the world when I was four years old. I am still in awe of my parents' sacrifice and commitment to giving us a better life in Canada.

This is great Ali, I am interested in documenting family Christmas traditions from my side as well as from my husbands side and then show how we ended up with a wonderful combination. I think this would be really fun to do in your class because it would allow me to think about Christmas for three months rather than just the actual holiday time.

It's an ugly truth but I would like to document about how my 14 year old brother ended up in prison for life.

I need to get the basics of my husband's family history written down. When and where did his mom and dad go to school, how did they meet, that sort of thing.

I would like to document the grand adventure that my parents took my 13 year old brother and I on (I was 8) across the country - in a station wagon pulling a tent trailer for 3 1/2 weeks in 1970. I still ask my mum, "what were you thinking?"

Wow! This is a great idea.
I think I would tell a story about my Grandfather. He lived overseas and he passed away before I got the chance to meet him. He was very musical and was the life of the party--my Grandmama made a comment that I was very social like he was, so I want to discover more about him.

I would like to document Christmas - the combination of traditions we celebrate in our family. It would be great to do this throughout the fall and really put me in the mood for the holiday season.

I would love to document the relationship that my sister and I share. We have been best friends our whole lives, and have gone through a lot together, and I think it's important that those memories be in my scrapbook.

I want to document my mother at my age. We both bought our first condos at the same age, we both were painting our kitchens at the same age, we were both married at the same age. It would be fun to see the contrast between the photos of us each doing the same things across the years. It would really be a chance to document that relationship.

I'd like to document two things:
    - my passion for Art History. I think it would be neat to do a scrapbook full of paintings that inspire me, photos of me in various museums I've been in, and stories about how the paintings impacted my life.
    - my experience with Spina Bifida. It sometimes feels as if I wrote it all down, expressed it somehow... I wouldn't feel as if I'm carrying around this *history* with me all the time. It wouldn't feel like such a heavy burde to remember every little detail if I could get it out on pages, along with xrays, images, doctors reports, etc. I'd like to turn it into something beautiful and cathartic.

My grandmother raised me... and she would be my subject. Her name was Olive. I found this real book somewhere called "olives... the life and lore of a noble fruit." Yes thats as silly as it sounds, but i would love to alter this book and used it as a base to scrapbook all my memories of her, the lessons I learned from her, and special things about her I want my children to know. She was just so much fun, and full of love... and silly too- she loved children with a captial L. I've wanted for so long to start on it, and now have the time to. It would be really great to have the help and inspiration of a class like this to do it.

    This class looks fantastic!
I want to document some of the stories of my childhood--growing up in a rural community, Sunday post-church brunches with my grandparents, the people who were like family to me, my friends, the community and school activities, etc.
I haven't documented many stories about my roots, and I think this class would really inspire me to look back on where I've come from and how that's played into my values today.
