PEEK AT THE PROCESS
| I knew three things for sure when I started the creative process for the layout featured above:

1. I wanted to use the photo of Simon reading in the tree and I wanted it to be bigger than 4x6.
2. I wanted to use the July 2010 stamp set.
3. I wanted to use elements from the Studio Calico September 2010 kit.

I started by cutting out the strip of numbers from the Jenni Bowlin pattern paper. At this point in the process I wasn't too sure what the end layout design was going to look like but I had a general idea to use that number strip as an anchor along the bottom of the main content.

After stamping the Capture Life rectangle above on the cream cardstock I decided to repeat that basic shape using pattern papers (sometimes I just stamp and go for it). I love the technique of repetition.

To give the design a bit of variety I mixed up the height of the rectangles.

Each of the pattern paper rectangles was adhered to the cream cardstock. I added a bit of stitching around two of them. These rectangles would make great homes for additional embellishments if you were creating a page similar to this and wanted to add more.

As you might notice I ended up cutting out this whole area with the cream cardstock background and adhering it to white cardstock.

My initial plan was to have the chipboard title just along the top. I ended up adding "& Read A Book" towards the end of the process. Because that all happened at the end I trimmed some white cardstock off the top to make the margins between the edge of the chipboard letters and the cardstock even.

To complete the page I adhered it to the dark navy lined pattern paper and added zig zag stitching and a little bit of journaling.

Love the inspiration here! I've wanted to try out one of these kits soon, so hopefully I'll get the chance. Loving the look your designer digitals so I'm sure I'll love these too! I think it would be neat to see some themes related to adoption and/or fostering children. Right now I'm fostering my nephew, so it would be neat to see something related to that. Thanks for the chance at this awesome giveaway!

I'd love to see you create a set of sports related stamps . . . something with quotes that would focus on the inner accomplishments, motivation and rewards of playing sports (not just a set of soccer balls). Given your journey to return to being an athlete, I think you could capture those brilliantly. I'd love it if there were small titles of certain sports included (especially swimming, baseball, basketball and soccer). I know that's specific, but a girl can dream, can't she??
    Thanks!

I love your label-type stamps, and would love to see some generic label shapes with interchangeable words, such as "I believe", "I see", "I dream", "I hope" etc etc.
Would absolutely love to win this fantastic prize! Thanks for the chance :-)

I would love to see some really big journal entry stamps or lines without borders. My journaling is frequently too large to fit into tiny blocks. I also am a card maker so I'd love some sentiments.

I would like to see something about love between husband and wife. Not newlyweds but something more for people that have been married a while...10, 15, 25 years...that still love and respect each other...that are still best friends.

I would love to see date stamps. Be it a blank square that reads Date:___/___ or a stamp where you can circle the month, date year...

Thanks for letting us voice our opinions.

I liked both the idea about concentric circles, and also the idea about stars. My idea is to have a set of journaling blocks, or sentiments that feature things that are said. "Overheard" "You said" "today's story" "funny story" "I heard/hear you" - just some things like that.

Like many of the other posts, I gravitate to geometric stamps and such. I also love brackets. Perhaps some relative names (grandma, aunt, cousin) or times of day (morning, evening, bedtime) in your lovely writing?
