One Little Word 2010

I've decided my word is COMPASSION. I'm dealing with my mother, who has dementia and I have been very frustrated and often NOT compassionate. I feel like if I can show compassion to her, it will spill out to others. Thanks for the push to think about this!

My word this year is FOCUS. I need focus in my life in so many area that I won't bore you but my most important are
Focus on Myself and my health
Focus on My family and those that I love
Focus my camera and become a better photographer!

This seems a great idea so while I have time between the housework and preparation for New Year I've decided to choose the word CAN.
To often this year I've focused on what I couldnt do due to money, work, health or something/anything else so in 2010 I can be more organised, I can loose weight, I can share my love of crafting with friends and I can spend more time with family. I'm going to concentrate on what I CAN do and how to do it not what I cant. Thanks for sharing this idea.

After much thought I've finally selected my word for 2010. I thought about Enjoy, Happy, Glee but what I finally settled on is "RELISH". This year I want to "relish" everything. I want to "relish" the process of my design business. I want to "relish" the time spent with friends and family. I want to "relish" every moment so that at the end of 2010 I can look back and "relish" all I've accomplished.

I have a phrase- I plan for it to turn up in my scrapping a good bit!

and I love this idea. My word is Forgive.
Forgive not only other people who may or may not have "wronged" me somehow, but to also forgive myself.
We all put so much pressure on our selves and then get disappointed when we can't measure up to some "ideal".

The first word that came to me was while reading Lain Ehmann's post yesterday on ways to keep your word in front of you. The Lisa Leonard necklace said "Courage." It felt too easy, but the more I think about it, that's the word I need. I have goals for the year that I'm afraid of, and we have possible changes coming in our lives that are exciting and scary. I sometimes lack confidence, and thought about that being my word, but really it all comes down to Courage.

My word for this year is PRAY. I want my life to be much more focused on God and prayer for those around me this year.

After reading this post and through some of the replies, the first word that came to mind for me was 'Acceptance'. And after mulling over several others, I think this is the one for me.

This took me a while - drew up a shortlist and then narrowed it down to CHALLENGE. I want to challenge myself in lots of different ways. It is also a word that applies to my eldest son as he has challenged himself to try and gain a place at the karate world championships in 2010.

My word this year is PURPOSE. I'm an empty nester now and feel like I'm hearing murmurings from God about there being more to life. I'm going to discover what my Purpose is this year and weed out some of the things that should have been done long ago. Exciting - and scary! - at the same time. :)

As I played with different words - story was one but for some reason did not stick. I do feel I have a story to tell and am finding the best way to do that in writing, photos, and words. My word for this year, though, kept coming up in different ways. It is FIT. I had been saying for many years that I wanted to be fit when I was 50. I just turned 50 on December 27th. So this year I will dedicate to being fit. As in "healthy, appropriate, worthy, appearing likely to do something, a sudden outburst – fit of laughing." My goal will be to continue to incorporate last years words; dynamic and grace and never forget to laugh. Love everyones words.

My word for this year is "healthy". It is my goal to have:
healthy relationships
healthy time-management
healthy expectations of myself and others
healthy body
healthy spirit
healthy finances...

This is my first year trying it, thank you for the inspiration Ali.
My word will be - ILLUMINATE - brightened with light, because I want to remember to be bright and positive with family and friends, I want to use God's gifts to illuminate my projects, and be aware of my blessings every day.
(I also considered FRUITFUL because I would like to finish more pages and projects this year. LOL!)

My word for 2010 -- OPEN. As in being open to whatever the year has in store for us, open to new ideas, open to creativity, open to changes, open to the unexpected.

my word is a very simple one this year - DO. I'm always filled with good intentions but i need to stop just thinking/writing/making lists and just get on with it. hoping to have something visible around my home to keep in my focus

My word this year is CONNECT which lends itself to all parts of my life. I want to reCONNECT with my friends and family that I did not see so often in 2009, CONNECT with my inner and spiritual self by going to back to doing things I love, being the CONNECTion between my family and our memories though scrapbooking, CONNECTing my family in new ways this year by making being together a priority.

My word is ENERGY:
My kids have plenty of it. My husband and I run out of it by day's end or never have enough to start out with. Looking for more spiritual ENERGY, physical ENERGY, kinetic ENERGY.

I found focus on a metal circle (along with 3 other words) for $3.99...it will serve me well until I can ask for the "real" one for my birthday.

Ali, you were right, my one little word finally just came to me. My word is PLACE. It's about de-cluttering...finding a place for things. It's about our garage...my car needs a place! It's about our home...about reflecting the complexity of our very blended family...letting it be a place for all of us and what we need. And personally, it's about letting go of perfect...not needing to WIN everything.

I am going with Capture. I really want to do a better job of capturing our everyday moments! I also want to take more pictures and "capture" as much as I can!
