Each year my husband's extended family gets together for a week-long camping trip at some amazing northwest location...all 30 of us. It's the only time some of the cousins get to see each other all year.

My wedding anniversary is July 6, so we tend to do something a little special over the Fourth. This year, we're taking our kiddos to Great Wolf Lodge (along with some dear family friends).

I was going to say barbeques, that's definitely a summer tradition. But my favourite recent summer tradition is to go with the family to Legoland here in England which we've done the last 3 years. The kids (6 and 3) love Lego and they are really looking forward to going again this summer in ... ooh 11 days!

July 4th is one big tradition. From the meal to the Old Navy Flag Ts. The best part is that my dd and ds wouldn't think of doing 4th of July any other way.

Our family summer tradition is a morning of tennis with our extended family and all the kids then a lunch of BBQ chicken, salad and fresh bread rolls.
These days are great for getting some exercise, having some fun and enjoying time with our family.

A few favs: walking in the Relay for Life at the end of June, signing up for the local library's summer reading program and going twice a week-filling our library bags WAY too full (we don't do that during the schoolyear because we don't have as much time to read!) and spending time at the family cottage on the lake.

Summer for us is watching Wimbledon on the TV and playing our own version (badminton) in the back yard until the sun is gone.

Making a holiday scrapbook with each of my children for them to take into school when the next school year starts. My son's is usually a nature notebook of all the birds and animals we've seen, with lots of facts about them and whatever photos we've managed to get! My daughter's usually details every dog she's seen over the entire summer...

One great summertradition is to go to a nearby icecream-store which have the biggest icecreams I have ever seen. We usually go once during the summer. And belive me - one of those big icecreams are enough to last the entire summer (even the kids say so!)

I teach at a Year Round school, so we get 4 weeks off before the new year. It is a summer tradition for Dad to take the boys and go to "man stuff" together and give me a little down time to enjoy the very short summer break I get. I love my husband!!

We always have a 4th of July BBQ with some friends. And my husband always drops one of the brats on the ground when he's grilling. And the 2 husbands have just as much fun with the fireworks as the 2 kids.
