Grabbing the kids after work and going to the beach - there's nothing like the ocean and the sand to make me feel summer is really here and life is good.

something our family has been doing for the past 3 years, is taking a trip to the oregon coast and visiting jedediah smith state park. i am always awe sticken by the beauty of the giant redwood trees and i hope and pray that california finds a way to balance their state budget because if they don't, this beautiful park is on a list to be closed.
thanks for the great giveaway opportunity and have a wonderful weekend.

Using the outdoor grill as often as possible. It's under cover, so I can even use it when it's raining!

July 4th we head down to River Street in Savannah early in the evening; set up lounge chairs along the river; wathc the boats and people and wait for the fireworks! We've been doing this for 11 years now.

The first time I met my husbands family I made a watermelon made out of different kinds of sherbert and chocolate chips --- it was such a hit when it was sliced up and served I have to make it every 4th of July!!!

We go at least once each summer to the drive-in! It was more fun when the kids were little, but I still like to do it.

It's became our family's favorite summer tradition to pick a vacation destination and then rent a small (quirky) cabin or cottage that we found listed on Craigslist to stay at. Living in someone else's house really gives you perspective about your own home and life. Usually by the last day of the trip we realize that the grass isn't always greener and we are happy to go back home and repeat the whole process again next year.

My favorite summer tradition is spending the 4th of July with friends and family at Cannon Beach. The kids love filling their pockets full of candy at the parade.

Our favorite tradition is no real tradition...we are all about staycations. We take warm summer days and head out to explore the world around us. It involves picnics, hiking, sometimes splashing if we find a spot to do it in...but always tons of fun playing together. :) Love summer.

Summer always starts with the last day of school ice cream cone at Coldstone Creamery (yum!) and I love hearing the sounds of my son and his buddies playing outside until late into the evening. It wouldn't be a Garrison summer without a road trip somewhere - camping locally this year! And of course, the 4th of July fireworks and BBQ in our neighborhood is the best! As Snoopy says "summertime, summertime...I love summertime!"

One of my favorite summer traditions is staying up late and watching for shooting stars during late July and August. Not sure for the rest of the world - but during those few weeks each summer in Oregon we have phenomenal night time entertainment.
