INSPIRING AS EVER! Thank you for adding your words. If by chance I missed your word or you posted it later in the day yesterday feel free to leave it in the comments here and I’ll add it to this list.

There’s still time to join the One Little Word class at Big Picture. Actually, registration will be open throughout the year for anyone who wants to join in 2011.

The word cloud above was created using Wordle.

DECIDE is my word and I didn’t see it – and I joined up for the class last night. How could I not take a class by my favorite artist? Especially when I saw it was only $36!

By the way, I am the person who could barely speak when I saw you at Inspired last year. (I just like you knowing who I am!) I actually went to my workshop after that and started crying! LOL, I do have to say I am not normally that way … but after a very intense creative day that is what happens when you see your ‘hero’ unexpectedly!

Dear Ali, I would love to take your OLW class but I can’t. Because I don’t have a word. I have searched and thought for weeks, been touched by the words of others, but have not found a word that honestly speaks to my own heart. I am certain that says something about me, but what that is, I am not quite sure. Maybe there’s something wrong with me?

    • ….
      Ali said…

Oh Deborah – there’s nothing wrong with you at all! I bet one will come to you – there’s no hurry. Sometimes we also have to simply consciously choose a word and then just start moving forward and see how it ends up working on our lives.

    • ….
      Julie L. said…

Deborah I honestly considered decisive because I feel so indecisive about picking OLW. :) I’m sure with some more time you will find the word that speaks to you. Good luck in your hunt.

I love this post every year!

I’m struggling to choose between a few words this year:
    Productive
Organized (organized time, organized work, organized life)
    Enjoy

Perhaps I will pick Enjoy…with the idea that being productive and organized will help me enjoy my crazy life that much more! haha

My word for the year is memory.

The first half of the year I will be working on soaking up as many memories with my now only child (age 6, almost 7). The second half of the year we will add a new addition (!!!) and will work on building memories as a family of FOUR! — Our dynamics will be like yours – two kids 7 years apart. Not sure if I am having a boy or a girl yet (my current is a boy).

    • ….
      Ali said…

      Congratulations! It’s such a great spread :) .

      Heather said…

Congratulations! My 2 kids are 5.5 years apart and the journey so far has been such a joy. For us it’s been “just right” – not too close, not too far apart. :)

  • 63.

    My word is: NO.
This year I resolve to constantly remind myself that it’s perfectly OK to say no to other obligations/opportunities in order to say yes to my husband, family, children, and even to say yes to myself!

I submitted my word a few days ago, but I didn’t see it on your list. My word is COUTURE. I plan to sew up a storm in 2011 and make cool garments.

I’ve grown tired of looking frumpy (sweatshirts and jeans). And so, I wish to make cute skirts, dresses, and other surprises that my word will bring.

    Thanks for the joy, Ali.

Ali, forgive me if you’ve already answered this, but I can’t find it: last year you gave us a link to a website that illuminated our word. I typed in “awaken” and got a beautifully illuminated little word. Can you give us that link again?

Moment. To be in the moment with my children and husband, to not be worried about what I should be doing or what isn’t done. For all the precious ‘moments’ I have with my quickly growing kids- and the not so great moments. Slowing down moments before bedtime when my children want to tell me everything. Breathing deeply moments when there are lost mittens and conference calls that need to be dialed into. Prioritizing my moments and balancing what needs to get accomplished. Moments for myself. Moments- wonderful ones and not so great ones- that teach me to appreciate where I am at this exact point in my life- this brief, shining moment in this very precious life of mine.

I’ve had a really hard time choosing a word until Dawn in comment #3 pointed out that almost every letter of the alphabet has been represented. I looked and saw there are no words for K. The more I thought about it, this word speaks to me: KIND.

Yep, that’s it. Kind to others, kind to myself, kind to the world.

    Thanks for the Wordle.

    • ….
      Julie L. said…

I love it. I was surprised to see k wasn’t represented when I went back and looked at the “missing letters” as well.

I havn’t posted a word yet but mine is going to be ‘work’. Might sound kinda strange but I think it is really fitting for me right now. I really want to focus on “work(ing) out”, “work hard a my relationships with my girls”, focus on my daily “work (at home & at my job”.
I love how you do this each year. Thanks so much it is really inspiring!

I’m wondering if someone might be able to help me out. I’m looking for a word that captures the idea of “enjoy the journey/ride”. I haven’t been able to narrow it down to one word. Any ideas?

    “raise”
This is such a great list and I, too, love the word cloud idea!

  • 93.

Love the list of words. I actually changed mine; the more I began to think about what I wanted to keep in mind this year, I decided that I needed to go beyond focus, beyond simplify… I wanted something I could take action on. So I decided this year I would always keep concious of VALUE.

I want to explore and identify what is really of value to me, financially, ethically, physically, and in my surroundings.

Thanks Ali. Looking forward to putting my book together in class. :)
