Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Love the necklace! My superhero power would be just being a real mom & being happy with who I am & what I have. I make mistakes and I show that to my hubby and my girls, I show my girls some days I can handle 15 things at once and some days I can't. I show them I am far from perfect but I'm doing my best for them. I think they appreciate the realness in me!

Ah! Finally a chance to share my superpower! I am gifted at blowing bubbles! I still haven't found a particularly meaningful use for this, but when it comes along, I'll be ready!

What a gorgeous necklace. Hmmmm...my superpower is that I can devour a box of chocolate in nano seconds! If that doesnt really count then I would say that my superpower is that I can multitask really well.

At first I thought this was way too tough to figure out...and then it came to me! My superhero power is the ability to turn anything into a song! It makes my kids laugh and keeps things positive when someone's feeling not so up to snuff! :)

There is a cute tween/teen book called Bad Kitty. And the girls (running around las vegas figuring out a mystery) are into their own "superpowers." Something about one with a glue gun.....
I remember talking this over with my daughter. Her superpower is making up names for pets and things around the house. Mine was breaking boards with my feet. It still is somewhat....keeping up with active teenagers - that has to be a superpower.

Well, after being sick for three days now ... I went to the doctor and as our conversation progressed "What are you taking for your cold?" ME: "Nothing, I am a nursing mom." HIM: "How old?" ME: "Well, the one nursing is 6 months old ... but I have two more who are 5 and 3". .... "And I work full-time so I need a note". He looked at me like I was a little off. Yes, I guess that means I am a bit of a superhero? Don't know ... with three kids, all of which will be nursed for the first year (and yes,I am very proud of that) and I work full-time at a rather stressful job and manage to get out of bed somehow every morning ... I think I at least deserve one superhero trait?
    Lovely jewelry!

My superpower is the ability to make something out of anything!Realy! My Mom used to hold up random objects from her junk drawer and say "O.K what's this?" I could go on forever naming possibilities.

Tough one, on a day when I'm feeling particularly unsuperheroish. But I think my sweet 7 and 8 year old would say I'm their superhero. And it takes superhero strength to work full time outside the home and be a good wife and mother and sister and friend. And I'm a superhero at work, accomplishing more than most in my position. But I know that my superhero "powers" come from God. Thanks, Ali.

What a fun exercise. Could be a whole blog post in itself. My superpower? Hmmm...Today I would say being an encouraging friend - sending a heartfelt card, phone calls - I know the friends that need them (most of the time) and make an effort to let them know I care and support them.

Not that its really a superpower, but I'm one of the most patient people I know, and when it comes to dealing with my three kids, I need all the patience I can muster.

I am proud to have 2 superpowers...the gifts of patience and flexibility. I have always been the type to absorb what's going on around me before I react & this has led to me being able to be patient with myself and others. Flexibilty is a gift that is relatively newly discovered. I used to be very organized & hated being thrown off track. However, my husband now has a spinal cord injury where our day can change in an instant due to his various needs....I still fight being flexible but have realized it truly is a superpower :-) thanks Ali!

My wife is my superhero! She loves me well, her presence brings life and vitality to our home, and she is a wonderful, loving mom to our two year old daughter! She does so much to bring joy to our lives even when her tasks seem "thankless". That's a superhero.

My Superpower...raising a bigger family than I bargained for, because somebody made some bad choices. And becoming a better person for having done it. I wouldn't have it any other way.
