Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

OK, I'm thinking really hard about this one! Not sure if it can be considered a superpower, but I am extremely conscientious. Always endeavouring to give 100% to what ever I am doing.
Best of luck with baby A, can't wait to see piccies of her! Sue

I think my superpower is just being happy and trying to spread that to as many people as I can. It isn't always easy but I'd rather be remembered as happy and fun than grumpy and sad. I love the superhero designs jewelry--such a great way to celebrate and remind us of what we can be.

I think just being a mom and raising children makes me and all mothers superheros. Plus I have 3 boys, so I have to play superhero too!

My superhero strength is living in the now and loving unconditionally. I love both my husband and son so much. We hope to add to our family soon too so we'll have someone else to love with all our hearts.

My family is in awe of my super stain removing powers! Really it's just remembering to work on the stubborn spots before the clothes go into the wash. But they think I am awesome!

My superhero power is to please tummies. I bake some of the best desserts. My neighbors place orders for some of their favorites weekly. So I know my super human power and you know the best way to some ones heart is through their stomach. Thanks. :D

My superhero power is encouraging my daughter, who is three, to be a superhero. Painting, dancing and singing are all part of our daily repertoire. I want her to know that she has the power to be or do something great.
By the way, I love your design style. It inspires me every time I visit your site!

I don't claim to be a superhero.....I claim to be a mom, a grandmother, a wife, a lover, a friend...and a labor and delivery nurse for 36 years. I have held hands, rubbed backs, and helped bring pure joy into the world, time and time again. I have cared for the daughter having her baby of the mother I stayed late to help some 25 years earlier...and there is still no greater joy...no greater thrill ..than working long, hard hours to be rewarded with the sounds of a babies first cry! A superhero job, for a humble nurse...but I can't imagine doing any other thing! Thanks for a great blog...I read you daily....Billie

I am awesome at learning new things on my own. When I am interested in something, I channel a lot of my energies into being knowledgeable about the subject matter and getting pretty good at the practical applications of it.

I would have to say that my superpower would be my ability to organize (everything but my scrapbook supplies)! Drives me nuts not to have an organized desk at work...everything in it's place. (Gosh, I need to apply that in my roon!!!!)

I think I am just under the wire for this contest seeing as I am in Pacific time and it is only 7:38....my superpower is COMMON SENSE!! It may not seem like superpower to many folk....but it is amazing how lacking it is in the world now! My son got me hooked on this being a powerful superpower! Thanks Tim!

My superpower is that I care. I can't stop caring, can't stop trying to lighten someone's load...always trying to be helpful...postive...hopeful. Thanks for this question; I'm über critical of myself almost all of the time. I think I should journal/scrap about one of my superpowers once a week...maybe that could be your next mini album challenge for us? =)

I am a superhero Kintergarten teacher. Really....I can hear the way the boys start their play and know it is going to be light sabers and the force or it could be spiderman by the way they turn their wrists. Different kinds of superhero work for either one...I just have to make sure no body gets hurt.

I loved the story of how you started blogging - didn't know that!!
I would say that my superpowers are making people laugh, gift wrapping (with cello!), and remembering useless bits of trivia!!

My superpower is creativity. Seems rather lame to say that here, among all these great creative women who seem to be far more creative than I, but among my friends... trust me, I'm the creative one. Such as coming up with the best project with her 1st grader 45 minutes before school starts, because she failed to read the back side of the homework sheet that announced a huge project. (Did I mention I'm NOT a superhero when it comes to being organized?) DS did almost all the work himself (Mom manned the glue gun), and everyone thought we'd spent days and days on it.

Spent a lot of today trying to think up a superpower, but it seemed fall pretty flat, especially in light of my disappointing performance in lab today.
But if pressed--I never fail at being bizarre. I am capable of surprising pretty much anyone at will.

My superpower is teaching others. Whether I'm in class teaching students or with my two beautiful boys - I facilitate growth and learning.
Love it! Great exercise for us to do - thanks for push to think beyond the norm and really SELF CELEBRATE our gifts.
