Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.
My super power is being a silly aunt to my neice and nephew. When I see them, my heart swims, and whatever junk I had to deal with at work and my fatigue melts away, and somewhere this reserve power kicks in to play with them. How cool.

According to my kids, my superpower is ESPO - extra sensory perception of onions, which I hate!!! According to them, I can sense an onion in my meal before it even gets to the table :)

My superpower is my ability to organize. I'm very organized and can keep up to 10 projects going smoothly at my FT job while also managing tons of projects at home. All smoothly. All finished on time 90% of the time. I'm pretty proud of that!

I'm a superhero student. After a teen pregnancy and raising my daughter on my own for 18 years, I went back to school to finish my college degree. I worked full time while dealing with family issues and school work. I breezed through my BA and am now working on my MFA in Poetry. I am the first woman in my family to obtain a college degree, and I feel like a superhero when I think about it.
Thanks for the opportunity to think about our superpowers. It is nice.

This got me thinking.....
I think my superpower is doing 10 things at the same time. I am a great multi tasker!
That is how I can get a lot done in a short amount of time!

My superpower is being a mom. I'm sure lots of women know what I mean about a mom's 6th sense...I don't always get it right, and I don't always respond the right way, but my kids (who are grown or almost grown) still call to ask an opinion or just talk. I love the quality of relationship I have with each of them.
Thanks for asking...it was nice to think about this.

Beautiful necklace. Super power? Hmm, this is hard... OK, I'll say empathy. I'm the girlfriend neXt door who laughs with you, cries with you, celebrates your joys, mourns your losses, and understands just how you feel.

Patience. It's been cultivated over 15 years of teaching middle school special ed and social studies, and tested by my own children. You have to have patience.

I think/hope my super power is Super Supporter. Supporting my husband (both personally and through our business), our kids and extended family, friends and local school. I'd like to think that my support was considered enough to warrant superpower status.

My superpower is being an organized multi-tasker. If I didn't have this power my house and my life would be in shambles. Some people thing I'm crazy.. but my house is clean and orderly and it keeps me calm.

I guess I'd have to say my superpower would be creating things. Dolls, clothes, stories, anything that strikes my fancy at the time. I just wish I had more time to use it! And the jewelry is just lovely!

I think my super secret (ok not so much anymore) superpower is having a million ramdom facts in my brain. Trivia! And in face I'll be taking the Jeopardy online test (a goal of mine is to compete on Jeopardy) in about 40 minutes!!

What absolutely gorgeous jewelry! I'll be ordering one even if I don't win!
I think I have two superpowers - one is my super organizational skills and the other is my ability to analyze a situation and instinctively know what is going to happen or what to do. I think everyone actually has this one - I've just really learned to listen to my "inner voice" - usually the first instinct is correct!

What a cool giveaway, and superpowers... well I believe if I had to think of my own superpower it would have to be that I have infinite patience, and perhaps my camera could be my sidekick or partner in superheroness!

Love this question (and I love the name of Andrea's business).
I think my superpower is GIFT GIVING.
I love giving gifts and think I give some of the best. Whether I'm making or buying something for someone, I put so much thought into it. It is the best feeling in the world to see a loved one's reaction after opening something special. That feeling only helps replenish that giving superpower for the next round of gifts!
