Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

When I am sure about something, I can convince anyone. My husband says I have the power of endless "argumentation"... Is this a superpower?

My dearest friend says my superpower is making people comfortable, that after a few minutes I will make you feel like I have known you all your life. Sweet thing for her to say. I love these necklaces and would love to win one to give to my dear friend, her birthday is coming soon.Someday I hope to buy one for my daughter and one for myself.

I am good at cooking. Not all the time, not every meal is gourmet. But I can make a delicious bean burrito. Thanks for your inspiration!

My superpower: I have the ability to remain calm in a crisis...with just enough emotion to relate and empathize, but still able to make decisions and take action if need be.

Superpower. That is a struggle. As a single mom to two beautiful daughters and have to travel for work. I would say that my super power is that every time we talk in person or on the phone. I ALWAYS tell them I Love them. They always say that it makes them feel good that even if I have to be out of town.... I love those two. Someday they will know how much.

My superpower is that the other six occupants of my home (all four legged) owe their lives to me and in turn, they give me the love and inspiration I need to live my life to the fullest.

I am a professional musician, and before kids played with a symphony orchestra. I'm also a Mom to 2 young kids and my super-strength is patience. Although some days are better than others, I do have a lot of patience.

Love the jewelry, Ali! I think my superpower is teaching kindergarten everyday and doing a pretty good job taking care of children for the last 26 years! And mostly loving making a difference in kids lives.

My superhero power would have to be my programming abilities (i'm a software engineer)...
but I also have the superpower of freezing time - a photo is a snapshot of time, and I can 'freeze' time in the photos that I take.
    Kinda corny huh?

I have felt like I had to be a superhero lately...just over 7 months pregnant and still teaching 17 little bright-eyed first graders. It can be tiring some days to be on my feet almost all day, but I guess that's where the superhero powers come into play! :) Love the sneak peek at the baby's room. I have the same vintage scale - has been in our family for years.

Reading all these superpowers has been incredible!
My superpower? I can hold it together like nobody's business. From working with rape victims and sexually abused children to dealing with my parents' foreclosure-driven homelessness, I get up every day and just keep going, giving anyone who needs it everything I've got. (Which is probably why I'm sick right now, but I digress...)
And you know what? I freaking LOVE my superpower! It's who I am!

My superpower? Well, my kids said I can change their moods. Huh. Don't know if that's good or bad. They say I can change their moods with just a raise of my eyebrow LOL! Hopefully I can do the same with kind words, a hug, and a kiss! :)

One day, I hope to inspire people the way you, Donna and SuziBlu do, if you only knew.
Oh I was a poet and didn't know it.

it's so difficult to think and acknowledge our own strengths, but I've been working on that. I'm a supermom because my son (he's four) eats home-cooked meals, goes to a wonderful, small private school (that I can barely afford), takes swimming lessons and plays t-ball, and I've been doing it on my own for most of his life. I put my emotional issues aside and invite his father into his life, even if he doesn't always take advantage or appreciate it. I'm a superfriend because I know when to call, send a (handmade) card, say some chosen words to help you snap back into reality or just sit nearby and be quiet. I'm a supersister because my brother has not seen me cry in the 1 1/2 years he's been battling leukemia. Yes, we need to acknowledge our strengths!

Love the necklace, it is so cool!
I think my super power was raising two happy, nice, kind adults. They really are my pride and joy, and I used many super powers to get them there.
    Thanks,
    Marsha
