Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.
My superpower is dealing with all the therapies my son has to do. I manage to schedule it all, feed everyone, keep the younger one occupied, and still stay sane thru all of it!

Such a cool giveaway! My superpower is search and rescue. Something is lost - I'm your girl and will surely find it! I specialise in tiny lego clone trooper visors, light sabres, hot wheels monster trucks and Thomas engines! Or, indeed, the husband's keys/phone/wallet. On top of that I am also a princess. At least in the eyes of one 3 year old. Works for me!

As the mother of 3 little girls, my superpower is being the link between little girls and their daddy. Daddy hears them whining, our little girls hear daddy's stern voice, I'm the link that helps everyone understand each other. Also, I apparently have the ability to look like I'm holding it all together when inside I'm stressing out and wondering how I'm going to get everything accomplished. Did that make sense? :)

I am always one that is judging myself and not always completely happy with things that I accomplish, but I am very good at understanding other's feelings and trying to see the positive of every situation. I am a nurse and I love being able to help others and understand what they are going through!

I am an eternal optimist...for myself and everyone around me. And nine times out of ten things work out just marvy and if not there is always another angle!

I joke around the house as being "supermom". Taking care of our 5 year old, the house, the animals and I teach at our local school. Women are all so unique and "super" in our own ways...the things we have to do, the way we multi-task and the way we make everything all better.
I LOVE the necklace!

Hmmm... I am not sure if compassion is super power. But that's what I am known for within my circle of friends. They always said I am the thoughtful one. I really love the necklace. Love the color... :-)

I don't know about superpowers but... It took me years to realize that I did have some talent besides cleaning house. I am a good quilter, good scrapper, good mother, good wife and a really good organizer. So maybe if you put that all together it equals superpowers.

Like many others here I am a super power at multi tasking--getting gets breakfast, ready for school, teeth brushed, homework done, email checked, crafting projects on their way and keeping track of my part-time job. Every day I must have super powers to get through it all.

I just used my superpower earlier. I am good at cheering people up. I may not be able to change what's making them down, but I sure can turn that frown upside down. At least for a little while.

My superpower is being able to organize things to fit into a particular space (ie, getting gear all packed into the van, getting stuff to fit into a box, etc.)

I have three superpowers.
One: I'm a fantastic girlfriend. I'm really proud of the way I treat my man.
Two: I have a good eye for color. This is especially handy in color coordinating outfits (I have a real gift), decorating, and scrapbooking.
Three: I don't see this one in myself, but I constantly hear how strong I am. I've had a lot happen to me in my twenty years of life and was forced to grow up younger than I should have. But I have pushed through it and out of suffering comes growth. Always.

What a beautiful necklace and love hearing how people connect on the www!
My superpower is making it through each day keeping some sense of "normlicy" in our busy home and getting up the next day to do it again! Our home includes my 5 kids (3 5 year little boys, a 7 year old little girl and a 9 year old little girl!), my wonderful husband and myself. I was once told I look "pretty normal" as some well-meaning stranger stared at my tribe of little kids. My husband and I just walked away laughing...pretty normal....what's that!

wow, that's a great question. i haven't been feeling very super at much lately but after spending a little time thinking about it, i think running - not that i'd ever be going to the olympics or anything but i've been running since i was in grade 3 which means i just finished up 22 years of running. i think that's something to be proud of. :)

Well, I have the ability to know where the things my husband and daughters misplace. It's kind of scarey really! Comes in handy though :o)

My superpower? The power to listen carefully and respectfully. Whether I am listening to my students, colleagues, family or friends, I try to listen with an open mind and heart.
