Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

I am very good at putting things together, toys, gas grills, furniture, bikes. It drives my husband nuts because he can't figure it out even if he does follow the instructions.

My superpower is getting my second graders to love to read. Some come in my class in Aug and don't know how to spell their name. When they leave me in May, they can read at least 35-40 words and are so proud. It's always so overwhelming at the start of the year and just so rewarding at the end.

This is a tough one... if I had to say, I am a superhero at being my family's core... I take care of my two beautiful children, take care of my husband and our home. Run my own business, schedule all our family and kids activities, cook, clean, grow respectful and kind loving kids... love my husband to pieces, remember family birthdays and organize parties... make all the doctor and dentist appointments, etc. I am the hub! The center & proud of my superpowers to keep everything in order & love everyone as much as humanly possible!

In the past I would have said my superpower was multi-tasking, but it seems I lose that power the more kids I have and the more years go on...
I guess now I'd say organization. I have to keep things organized so that I don't have to multi-task so often :)
What beautiful necklaces!! Thanks for the giveaway.

My six-year-old says: "You're a nurse and you help people...also, you take really good care of us..."
I think he got it right...I am pretty good at taking care of people and love the nurturing aspects of my official job and my job at home.

i have the power to embrace. embrace my child in a happy or tearful moment. embrace a sunrise on a long drive to work. embrace a sweet glance from my husband. i am thankful for all the gifts God's given me in the 30 years i've had on this earth. most of all i'm greatful for the gift of a mother who taught me to have a thankful heart. my mom is my superhero - i only hope that in 30 years my daughter will say the same about me.

    Hello Ali,
My SuPerhEro Powers is my ability to whip up a healthy meal. I am proud to say that I can cook! and I can cook darn good too! I also have the huge talent of never forgetting a face and their name regardless if I met them for only a minute....I often can recognize people (even if it's been years or decades since I last saw them) and they look at me bewilderingly when I approach them and start talking to them....well, they probably think I'm more crazy then sane...but for some reason...I just bank it all in...LOL.
And I must say...LOVING the necklace...it is so HAPPY!!!!
    Thanks Ali!

well My family would say it is my memory for finding things, names, events or the making of my Chocolate Chip cookies, I would say sewing or in general creating. Any way that is an interesting thing to think about. " what are your superpowers?" Puts a really positive spin on things that you are good at.

I am NOT a superhero but in these next couple of months I will need to be. My verbally abusive husband has said all he has to say and broken my heart enough times that I am finally walking away with two little ones. It will take me a long time to see the superhero in myself but maybe if I get this necklace I will feel hope that I will regain that strength I once had sooner than later!
