Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

superpower....mine is that i like to think ahead...like in my job at school as a teachers aide. I try to think ahead one step of the teacher so that i can begin to prepare the items needed before she has gotten to it. That way we are working together smoothly without me stepping all over the teacher and us stumbling along as we teach. It seems to work out rather well.

I am over 40, in grad school, have two daughters, and my sweetie...my superpower is multitasking! Not uncommon to make dinner, listen to my sweetie, help the girls with homework, and take an online quiz all at the same time.

My superpower is at the end of the day, despite many trials and adversity, I am determined to end on the silver lining, closing the day on the blessings and believe I and all those around me tried their best today, so tomorrow will be better.

a superpower? raising twins and their younger brother - I love being a mom, even if they are all driving now! They love the scrapbooks and stories 'saved' in them - I think loving my family is my superpower.

hmmm...my superpower is my, what I call, gift to know how to get the best out of a kid that I have to assess. I love figuring out everything about a little child and how to encourage moms, praise them for all their efforts. It's my passion, I suppose, that makes it all seem easy!

My own personal superpower is being able to look at my life's experiences and see the good, the lessons, and the triumphs.
Scrapbooking has really helped me refine this superpower - through the story telling, I am able to better see the lessons and the beauty of my life experiences.

My super power is to stand tall -- against all odds. I work as a Radiation Emergency Responder and it is a field that is 95% men. I am 4'11" but when it needs to happen I grow to 6 feet and no one questions my power!

My superpower is that I can wiggle my right ear! My kids think it's neat but the best part is when they try to wiggle their ears and end up making funny faces. :-)

    Ali...
Wow...you made us think on this one. I guess my superpower is being a mom to five kids, getting them out the door on time for school, organizing their schedules, keeping up with the laundry, making dinner before running to sporting events, etc.
I also like to organize but from the looks of our house some days, you would never guess it!
Thanks for a fun give away!

It's really hard to consider myself a superhero...but if I had to pick something that I'm super good at, it's making people feel important. When I ask "How are you today?", I mean that I really am interested and I really want to know. When I ask "Is there anything I can do to help?", I mean that I want to help. It's not just lip service. I am sincere. And for that, I'm proud of me.

    Ali,
I'd really like to win this necklace.
My superpowers are encouraging others to believe in themselves and being supportive when others feel they are alone - my power is to be there for them to lean on.
    Thanks.
