Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.
Like many working mums, I can multitask...and I have stamina! : )

I have been told by friends who see me interact with my son that I am an amazingly patient, loving, and strong woman and mom. I don't always feel these things, and I get frustrated sometimes and want to quit. But my love for my son keeps me going, so I guess my superpower is simply that, love, and the ability to keep hoping for the best to come.

My super power is definitely the power to find lost things. If anyone is missing anything, they come to me first. It may take a little while, but usually I can find whatever it is that is lost.

My superpower is that I am a mighty encourager. I believe in people, unfailingly, even if they don't believe in themselves. I'm the one who says you can when you're scared, I'm the safe place to fall where you won't be judged, I'm the one who likes to be behind the scenes while you show the world your greatness. That's my superpower.

My super power....the ability to remain calm and reasonable. When an emergency happens and all others are falling apart, I can take charge, get done what needs to get done and move on. I can think rationally and reserve my emotions until calm has come upon us again.
I also have this strange ability to know which one of my three children are coughing, in the middle of the night, when we are all tucked in bed. My husband just can't figure that one out!!!

I had to stop and think about this awhile, then come back to post.
I think my own personnal superpower is my ability to remain even keeled through whatever storms head our way. I try to focus on the horizon no matter what.
These necklaces are amazingly beautiful.

I think my superhero quality is that I get out of bed every morning and try to keep my children, husband, house and job all running smoothly!

my superpower is that i am almost always RIGHT. this is an actual fact. my husband even admits it, though he also admits that he can't help but ignore it and try it his way first. then he grudingly adds, "you were right, as usual." He even told my dad, "if i just do what she wants me to, it always works out." sooooo funny!!!! I am superwoman!

I think my superpower is a combination of being resourceful and organized and practical. It's not just being one of these but the combo of these that gets me out of every possible "mess" life throws me. Yes I can!

Wonderful giveaway..just to be able to read these responses from these amazing SuperMoms!
I think what makes me a SuperMom is that my 2 little boys are loving, sweet little souls because they know how much they are loved and respected from they're SuperMom and SuperDad!

For my first daughter I was her advocate - getting her the things she needed to thrive even when her therapists didn't know it existed. I'm a believer that God can do anything and he did allowing her to share in our lives for 37 wonderful months. I'm a survivor and we have gone on to have two beautiful girls who are more joys in my life. I keep things going - as my husband put it if something is stalled and you have to wait for action (like a board I'm on at church) I'm the person to keep the details straight and keep everyone informed while things get worked out. I'm a mother which is the most rewarding job I could ever ask for. And I can teach people to use computers that never thought they would be able to. Wow! Maybe I'll have to copy this out and put it on my desk whenever I'm feeling down!!
Thanks for making me think about it and good luck with the new baby!!!

As a mom and a teacher (for college students no less) I am super-hero to them because I am. They trust me to help with whatever they need. I don't always bring solutions but guidance, a shoulder to lean on, and a smile.

ah good subject... i think i have several superhero powers
I'm a good mom, the mom that all my son's friends like to be around, I'm not my son's "friend" by any means I am the parent, but i am the mom that the kids can talk to w/out getting judged, i'm the mom that sorta "gets" teenage boys or i try to.
I'm a superpower organizer, not so much that it's overdone, but enough to make my friends say "your super organized, but not some much that it's to much"
I'm superpower calm, and logical like all the time, my hubby tells me i think like a guy, which is good for him cause he's definitely more emotional and less logical than I, which probably why I have more male friends and he has more female friends.

My superpower - clamness when faced with all those little child emergencies, such as: they're locked in the car (with your keys & cell phone), major boo-boos (talking a good amount of blood), choking and split noggins. It's really the only time I stay focus and calm and know exactly what to do. My girlfriends claim it was all my years in Girl Scouts. :)

Hi Ali,
My superhero power is that I am a great mother and grandmother....I take care of everything for these young parents as they struggle thru financially and with these beautiful "surprise" baby girls (not twins)...:) I am the doer and giver of my family..That makes me feel pretty good knowing my family loves me for the fact that I give all the time and expect nothing in return.:) My extended family feels the same, they know I am here for them no matter what.
that is a beautiful necklace. Good luck to everyone that has entered today!
thanks,
Karen

I cook things that make your eyes roll back in your head. That's my super power.
I absolutely love Andrea and her jewelry. I found you through her and it has been a wonderful gift having both of these creative and spiritual blogs in my life.

Wish I had the superpower of winning the necklace despite the 1000's of names before mine!
But really, I'm a superwoman ... I can make dinner, while talking on the phone, while scrapbooking, while doing the dishes, while answering the questions of a four year old, while helping a 9 year old with her homework, while doing a load of washing, while helping a 7 year old build a dinosaur model, while planning my next scrapbook layout in my head.
