Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Wonderful giveaway! It is amazing how difficult it is to think of a superhero power. I would say that my superhero power is the ability to make others smile or feel better.

    I love the Superhero jewellery!
My superhero power... probably being able to step back and tell myself honestly... 'that I can't do it all'.
My ideal superhero power would be to balance EVERYTHING and have Peace and Joy! (... as a wife, mother, grama, Nurse, volunteer - life is full!)

    Ohhh such pretty pretties....
My superhero power? It must be listening... whenever one of my friends have a problem, needs to vent, or whatever they call me to tell me about it because they know I actually listen to them. No judgement, no interruptions, no similiar circumstance... I just listen

My superpower is a toss-up. I either want to be called "Dirty Diapers Don't Bother Me Girl" or "People Magazine Chick" The first is self explanatory, but the second is because I can read People and remember every last bit of celebrity trivia in it for the next 2 years (maybe more). Phone numbers slide right out of my head, but I can tell you where Kate Hudson vacationed over Christmas. Yay for me!

My superpower? My strength and the ability to get through anything that gets thrown at me with a smile on my face. I always say "I can do anything!" And I can! Where there is a will there is a way - and I always find a way.

I think I am doing a fairly good job at raising polite and responsible boys. I am also proud of myself for having picked up a creative hobby that brings me joy.
Off to check Andrea's blog and jewelry now!

My friends and family tell me I can smell a deal a mile away so I guess my super power is sniffing out deals! =) Whenever I show friends something the first question they ask is, "Was is free?" Not a bad power to have in the current economy I guess! As for the necklace, who wouldn't want that gorgeous pop of color around their neck to remind them that spring and summer are on their way...well, eventually.

My superpower right now is teaching. But for six months after my son was born I kept another human being alive solely on the milk my body made. That is definitely superhero stuff if you ask me!

I guess a good quality about me is that I'm organized and that I try my very best doing this in all areas of my life. Personal, family, friends, home... etc etc.

I guess my superpower would be patience. I raised 3 boys and have taught preschool for 14 years. Everyone always tells me I must have a lot of patience to do what I do, but I just love children and can't imagine doing anything else.

One of my superpowers is that I make a full healthy homemade (meat, bread, fruit and/or veggie) breakfast for each of my four children EVERY single morning before school and almost every weekend. I have four kids and 3 of them are at different school so different times. It doesnt always happen for dinner but always for breakfast.

Oh, I love the necklace (beautiful and inspiring) but I also love the call to find something beautiful within ourselves... you make so many want to be better humans, thanks! My super power (gift from the Lord) would be encourager and coach. I am a teacher and work with other newer teachers to make them better at what they do and to inspire and grow their passion for teaching children. I absolutely love that part of my job and feel so blessed to encourage others to be their best, sort of like you but on a much more local level :) Thanks Ali! Can't wait to see your beautiful daughter when she gets here-know you can't either!

I think my superpower is being positive and using it to help the people around me be more positive in their lives. My husband was laid off last Spring and I've been using my superpower to help him be positive everyday since! I think it's working, he's seeing the bright side of things more everyday!

    I wish I had Wendy's superpower of staying calm in a crisis. Definitely not me. My superpower is that I pick up trash on the beach (just took a walk with hubby and picked up tons of trash). I also use re-usable bags EVERYWHERE; the grocery store, Target, etc. To me, I'm being super to the environment by passing on plastic. :-}
