Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

my superhero power must be THINKING DEEPLY because here i sit for 15 minutes trying to decide what to type. i really do love to think through life and memories and spiritual moments and such... it helps me find perspective.
now if i could special order a superhero power, today i would pick "zest, motivation, and energy" to do my chores.
{viastrengths.org} has a great list of ideas for this exercise.
darling necklaces and great inspiration! thanks.

I am an awesome sports photographer. My son and his teammates love looking at the images I capture of them on the basketball court, soccer field or baseball diamond!

I have found the superpower to feel love, to love through pain, to love through stress...to love it all the highs and the lows. This may sound typical to some who mastered this superpower long ago, but for me it has been freeing and fulfilling.

    What a beautiful necklace.
I think I'd have to say that I'm pretty good at teaching myself things. It started out with the recorder, way back when and hopefully I'll keep doing it forever.

Oooh, I just adore Andrea's goodies. I asked for one of her Superhero pendants for Christmas, but then forgot to tell my sweetie where he could actually find it.
My superhero power is love. I love ferociously and powerfully. If love could build a bubble around someone, my family and friends would all walk around looking like bouncy balls.
    Thanks for the great giveaway!

It's funny that you ask us to comment on our superhero statis...I have always had a little superhero in me (I loved wonderwoman as a kid growing up!). I even have a superhero name! Ok I will tell you it's Aquagirl! I have that name because I have a talent for making my clients ponds happy, healthy and sparkling clean. My youngest boy also is a superhero. He is Super Decky. He just started calling himself that since he was little and it kinda stuck. My other talent...well I am really good with people. I am a true people person, I usually can walk into a room of strangers and know everyone and make good connections by the end of the night! Thanks for the giveaway! What a treat.

A superpower.... this one really makes you take a moment and think. I think my superpower is to raise two girls to be strong women who have superpowers of their own. As a mom who also has a full-time job, I try to show them that moms can be good at lots of things, and that girls can grow up to be anything their hearts can dream up.
    p.s. I love those necklaces.

I think my superpower is being able to find happiness in the little things. That makes me able to fight every battle and move on:)
And that benefits the people around me, as I'm able to find strenght and share my strength with others:)
What a great challenge you gave us. We really need to think about this more often!

one time I stumbled across Andrea's superhero site... and then I stumbled across yours as well! (and now I read them both every day!)
My superhero ability is being a college student with 17 credit hours, 13 hours of singing rehearsal per week, work, and lots of homework... and being able to get everything that I need to get done... well, done!

Superpower? I don't know about superpower, but one of the things I do well, that I really enjoy, is feeding people. Having all of our friends and family over for supper and having such a big spread that everyone can find something they like and everyone goes home fat and happy.

My superpower would be that I can remember where my kids or husband put something down. It's always, "mom, where did I put....." and for some reason, I just know.

I think my superpower is bringing college classes to my students who are locked up in juvenile hall. The high school grads had nothing to do but hang out with me until a chance meeting got us into the program at the local jr. college. The only downside now is that I have less then $1,000 left from our grant for textbooks. Last semester we had 22 kids start out in multiple classes - kids took 2 to 4 classes each.

You're right...it is so hard for us as women to "toot our own horns," so to speak. Why is that? And I struggled with how to answer this. But I think my superpower would have to be my fierce loyalty.

I think one of my best super powers is being a multi-tasker. Of course sometimes my purse ends up in the fridge and the milk in the closet... ;)

Thanks for making us think of ourselves in a positive light... have to admit, the question threw me off guard!
I guess, as many woman are, especially those with families who are working outside the home, as well as in, and doing many more things, I have become one of the many superhero multi-taskers. Here is to girl power! :)

My superpower is organization. At home, at work . . . I think I learned it in college, but it's something that certainly made working full-time and raising two kids a lot easier.
