Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My Superpower, at the moment is growing a life inside me, and keeping everything else going at the same time! Trust me, it's not always easy to stay calm and collected when all you want to do is breakdown and cry due to all the hormones.

My superhero power is listening. I am the best listener in the whole wide word. I have been dying for a Superhero necklace for at least 2 years...and this Saturday is my birthday! Pretty please ;-)

I am awesome at being patient. I tell my husband (lovingly of course) that when God made me He gave me an extra serving of patience knowing that I was going to be married to a very impatient, impulsive man! Wonderful how He works those things out!!

My superpower is invisible. It cannot be seen by others. My seven year old son has special needs including a ADHD/ASD mix. And of course he has meltdowns. Huge, enormous cying fits in shops over trainers (sneakers) that hurt. Or cookies that have bits in them. Or something. And every bone in my body wants to join in and cry too. To scream in frustration. But I don't. I pinch myself. I bite my lip. I focus. And I stay calm. And no-one knows, no-one can see the internal melt down I am having. That is my hidden superpower.

Thanks for the opportunity Ali! I don't know that superpower is the right phrase for it but I have the ability to calm my clients down and put fears at ease. Sometimes that is a really good thing in my line of work. Good luck with little sweet girl Edwards!

Andrea - your necklaces are beautiful!!
Well I guess my superpower would have to be data analysis and creating excel spreadsheets for that. I make a good living at it as an accountant. That way I can support my crafting habit!!

beautiful necklace...andrea is amazingly talented. :)
my superhero power would have to be making the most basic (and sometimes boring) stuff - like reading, writing, math, science - come alive and be fun for my first grade students.
also...it never ceases to amaze me how these kiddos have their own superhero powers, too - learning to read, write and do a million other things in the span of nine months. :)
thanks for this lovely giveaway opportunity.

Hmmm, as much as I want to say it'm my artistic or scrapbooking skills, it' not, it's research.
Can't find a resource, website, book, well I'm your go-to person. I'm like a dog with a bone and will not stop until I find that thing I'm looking for or you if you want help. Luckily I'm channelling these very handy skills into doing my Master of Arts with a 40,000 word thesis that is currently using all of my skills.

I did ponder the question, “What am I awesome at?” For a long time I have thought my ‘awesomeness’ was in the past. Working outside the home, worship leading, music, mentoring, owning a business, to name a few. Those were all part of a past life. But you know what? I AM an awesome Mom to a very special young man. Everything I have experienced was for this moment in my life. My ‘awesomeness’ is helping this special young man succeed in life.

Superpowers~well let's see, taking care of my fabulous hubby who has MS and running my own certified daycare (16 kiddo's) ~ my days are filled to the top. Sometimes I amaze myself that I make it thru the day. If I really do have superpowers they come to me from above~because I know I am definitely blessed. Love the colorful necklace.
