Putting up our tree. We have an eclectic tree filled with ornaments that remind us of what the kids liked during the past year. We have Lego ornaments, ballet slippers, Dora, Thomas and Spongebob. It would never win any decorating contests but it's ours. Merry Christmas!

My favorite tradition is our Christmas Eve movie. Every year since I was 5, my parents always took my brother, sister and I to a movie. We try to see something Christmassy (I think I made up that word!). Now that I'm 26 and married, we still do it :)

one evening every season, we put the kids in jammies and head out to our favorite home-style, comfort food restaurant. we let the kids order whatever they want (cookies for dinner anyone?) and once our bellies are full we get hot cocoa to go, snuggle the kids with blankets in their car seats, and drive around slowly marveling at Christmas decorations!

We wrap our Christmas books and put them under the tree. Every night in December the kids take turns unwrapping a book and we sit near the tree to read it, as a family. I love it on so many levels!

Fab giveaways, Ali! My favorite December tradition is going home to Oregon and spending Christmas Eve/Day with my family. We have a big family gathering of extended family every year on Christmas Eve and I look forward to it every year as a chance to reconnect with my cousins, aunts and uncles.

Our first Christmas together we were starving grad students so we decided to make Christmas morning last by hiding our few gifts around the house and taking turns looking for them. Sort of like an Easter egg hunt. We had so much fun playing hot or cold finding gifts that it really put the magic back in Christmas for us. We continue to hide gifts with our young family. We may not remember what gifts we received but we always remember the laughter and excitement of our present hunt.

One of my favorite traditions is getting together with my college roommates every December. It used to be just the four us. Now it's grown to include four lucky husbands and seven adorable children!

I have so many December traditions, all the decorating and shopping but one of my favorites is me and my husband watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas and we watch while playing Whoville-opoly. It's also such a fun thing to do.

One little tradition that I hold in my heart from when my three sons were small is their moving three sets of little plastic wise men all over the house for the twelve days of Christmas. Those wise men got into all sorts of places until finally they made it to the living room Crèche by January 6th.

wrapping every single tiny stocking stuffer, and gifts from santa. my birds are 26,22 and nearing 20 years of age. adults now, but never too old for santa. Hope lives in my heart every year that they WILL pass this tradition on, for years to come...well if there is grand baby birds in our future, parents can hope, right? Merry Christmas.

My favorite tradition is rather new, as we have only been doing it since last year. Each night the kids get to unwrap a new Christmas book to read before bed each night... they just love it! What's great about the tradition is that last year after Christmas was over I took advantage of all the christmas sales and scored all of this years books for a song!

My favorite holiday tradition over the past eight years has been the Christmas celebration we have with our friends that live in our condo complex. There are usually between six to ten of us and none of us have family in state. We all get together for food and drinks at our condo and we exchange gifts once our bellies are full. It is always a fun night and one that we all look forward to each year.
