PEEK AT THE PROCESS
| I knew three things for sure when I started the creative process for the layout featured above:

1. I wanted to use the photo of Simon reading in the tree and I wanted it to be bigger than 4x6.
2. I wanted to use the July 2010 stamp set.
3. I wanted to use elements from the Studio Calico September 2010 kit.

I started by cutting out the strip of numbers from the Jenni Bowlin pattern paper. At this point in the process I wasn't too sure what the end layout design was going to look like but I had a general idea to use that number strip as an anchor along the bottom of the main content.

After stamping the Capture Life rectangle above on the cream cardstock I decided to repeat that basic shape using pattern papers (sometimes I just stamp and go for it). I love the technique of repetition.

To give the design a bit of variety I mixed up the height of the rectangles.

Each of the pattern paper rectangles was adhered to the cream cardstock. I added a bit of stitching around two of them. These rectangles would make great homes for additional embellishments if you were creating a page similar to this and wanted to add more.

As you might notice I ended up cutting out this whole area with the cream cardstock background and adhering it to white cardstock.

My initial plan was to have the chipboard title just along the top. I ended up adding "& Read A Book" towards the end of the process. Because that all happened at the end I trimmed some white cardstock off the top to make the margins between the edge of the chipboard letters and the cardstock even.

To complete the page I adhered it to the dark navy lined pattern paper and added zig zag stitching and a little bit of journaling.

Ali, the new club is awesome! I would love to see (I know it sounds boring!) a birthday themed set. I scrapbook lots of birthday pages and many birthday cards. I would love to add your style to my birthday projects.

loving the idea of a stamp club, ali! as far as what stamp set i'd like to see? i'd like a calendar type set - days of the week, months, maybe a mini numbered calendar that you could circle the date or check boxes. thanks for the chance to win, and for the constant inspiration!

I'd love to see some great card making sentiments too. I don't have enough birthday or generic "hello" or "thinking of you" type sentiments that I'm happy with yet in my collection yet!

Thanks for the chance to win Ali, you create really cool stuff. I have a son turning 18 in a few weeks and he's a high school senior in sports and student govt and more. I'd love to see stamps that are geared to where he is like Achieve, Goals, Strength, Commitment, Role Model, etc. He's a great big brother and I just haven't seen stamp sentiments out there that fit for all that he is and I know you would do him justice with your words in stamps.

Love your layout! I've wanted to try stitching but haven't gotten up the guts (or time).

I'd love to see some tech themed stamps. You know computer monitors, cell phones, etc. Maybe with some journaling lines or to serve as a photo frame =)

    Thanks!

I agree about the date/month/day/year sets. Also, I'd love to see a set of arrows or something similar to the "You Are Here" stamp you used on some of your pages. Something that would go across themes and be more of a basic element. :)

How exciting! :) I'd love to see some circles in various sizes (could put some word stamps inside) or combinations that would be excellent for backgrounds (especially one of dots). I like the idea of having a few words from your story such as "story", "athelete", maybe "inspire", etc. Have fun creating new stamp sets!

I would like to see stamps with a boyish theme: robots, aliens, monsters. Not too cutesy but more whimsical.

ah yes, it would be inteeressante also, if there were seals of labels with any word example: label and in written or family to this day, essential ... things like that.
