Christmas Art Journal.
Feeling a bit better today - thanks for all the kind thoughts.
One of my favorite parts about the holidays last year was participating in Shimelle's Christmas Art Journal Class. Even though I didn't finish it last year, I love how it connected me daily to the holiday season in an artful and reflective way. I love that it gave me something to focus on and pushed me to try new things.
Here is one sample page I completed last year:
The rest of my pages from last year are located in my Art Journal folder to the right.
I highly recommend this experience. No pressure. Just good prompts and lots of sharing with others on the same journey. Not sure yet if I am going to have a chance to participate this year - December is shaping up to be pretty busy for us with a couple weekend workshops, a vacation, and hopefully a move into a new house. If my new house gets decorated I will consider that a huge accomplishment.
AND...if you leave a comment on here between now and 5pm Pacific today (my time) you will be entered into a drawing to take the class for free. Shimelle gave me two spots to give away - so make sure to leave your name in the comments. I will draw two names later tonight or tomorrow.

That art journal sounds like a great way to focus on the meaning of the season. Unfortunately Art Journal s scare me and I have not tried them. I think it is still some art class mentality from school that I am trying to overcome.

Thanks for sharing the journal page! I hope you're feeling better. I got the flu, too. It's not fun. Especially with a 14 month old to care for that is also sick! :-)

Leaving my name!
I love your layouts, I think anyone flipping through your albums would find them really interesting and want to read every single bit of journaling. You have inspired me to think of what my (uhm, future) kids will love to see and read when they grow up!

Oh, I guess I can comment for a chance to win! Plus, Ali, you are such an inspiration! I took your ABC's of Color online class, and I've got to admit, I am looking at things and NOTICING. Noticing color, shapes, flaws, imperfections, subtleties that I did not before. Thanks for helping to open my eyes!

Have you seen "Stranger Than Fiction"? That movie is so sweet, and it reminds me osf Shimelle's site....cupcakes and sweet scents of baking.
Anyway, our lives ARE stranger than fiction, and I hope you feel better soon. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

Wow Ali! I just discovered your blog recently and love seeing all your creations. The Christmas art journal is so awesome! I would be thrilled to learn to make one for myself. Can't wait to see what else you come up with for the holidays this year :)

I definitely need the commitment of a class to do this...That would be wonderful. I've been bogged down at work since mid-August and may actually see the light of day for Thanksgiving! Have a great turkey day!
