Get It Scrapped is giving away one spot in Pattie Knox's "More Mad Digital Skillz" online workshop.

Pattie Knox’s favorite part of digital scrapbooking is learning new techniques for creating realistic--as in “I can’t believe that’s not paper!”--layouts. In “More Mad Digital Skillz,” you’ll learn how to create torn edges on your photos and papers, how to insert photos into type, Pattie’s method for digital dry embossing, and much more about making your own brushes, working with custom shapes, and creating depth and interest with texture. Each lesson is accompanied by beautiful digital products from the talented artists at Designer Digitals—including Ali Edwards! Class starts May 25th at Get It Scrapped!

When I upload my pictures to my computer I add a few notes to each picture. This helps me to remember specific things going on in the picture or why I took a picture of a specific person, place or thing.

Stephanie King: I carry a small plain paper journal in my purse every where I go. When my two terrific kiddos say something that makes me smile, I have the paper and pen at the ready to quickly jot it down. I've been doing this for the last 3 years or so. Now, every time my son or daughter do something that makes me laugh, they say, "Are you going to write that down in your journal?" They even remind me to write it down! And they love looking back and their funny statements and things I've written down about them.

a trick for journalling a lo...I usually plan for a space on the lo, and then in the middle of paper, ink, and bling, I stop, write out what I want to say for the lo and then get back to designing. It helps me to be surrounded by the pics and embellishments to get out what I want to say - it doesn't seem to work as well for me to journal before or after...

I save incoming and outgoing e-mails since those e-mails are generally about something important or amusing. When it comes time to journal, I edit the e-mail or use it as is. Super easy!

I tend to use my photos on my layouts - no matter HOW old they are - to journal about what I am currently feeling and doing and seeing. Rather than obsessing over knowing the details behind each photo and getting caught up in the notion of being "behind" in my scrapbooking, when I make the process more about documenting who I am today, I think the journaling is far less intimidating in the midst of page creation.

Keep a small notepad with you to record all those little notes. Another tip, write every day - it will make your writing better!

My best advice is to just write from the heart. Generations from now your defendants won't care how witty or humorous your pages are...they'll just want to know the emotions behind the photos.

Journaling is always something that is tough for me, but it's also what I think is most important about scrapping. I find that keeping a little notebook handy where I can jot down stories about the girls, funny situations, touching moments, anything that I would like to incorporate into my pages, than I have an easier time when I sit down to scrap.

If stuck for "the whole story" put it in headline format and get the feeling down - "Kid Awes Parents" "The Dancing Queens" "Joy, joy, joy" Sometimes just beginning with that will help you write more.

I really don't have a certain journaling tip. I just write down what I want to say. I am not worried about someone else seeing it or asking about it. If I have soemthing private, I will put it behind something on the layout. Otherwise I hand write it out on the layout somewhere.
