Saying Goodbye To Studio A

Ck
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.

Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.

I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.

The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.

Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).

Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.

I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

wow ...Becky,then you and now i see that Lisa is also gone. For sure I will not be renewing my subscription!!! Your column was the BEST and the one I turned to first. Then after reading the entire mag I go back and reread your column time and time again!! I have enjoyed so much the way you scrapbbok and to watch your children grow through your column as been awesome. I understand the need for you to move on but the fact that the three of you are all leaving creating Keepsakes at the same time is really too much!!! Good luck in the future and I sure hope to see your wonderful work in other places!!!

They say that change is hard at times, but knowing you as I do, through the pages of your blog, I do not doubt for a second that for you, change is just another adventure. An opportunity for more creativity. Looking forward to what new flying colors you'll share with the world.
So grateful to know that you'll continue blogging! :D

Your collumn was always my fav part of the mag and the reason I decided to start subscribing again. Still waiting for my first issue, so I guess I'm looking at a whole year of no Ali.... Boohoo....
But on another and less selfish note: The very, very best of luck to you on your creative journey and all that is still to come! Looking forward to all that you will be able to share with us!!!

Ali, I was shocked reading your post, but I hope you share your photos and creativity here on your blog with us.
With Beckys, Lisas and your departure from CK there is no reason for renewal of my subscription.
I´m wishing you and your family all the best and looking forward for some new inspirations on your blog.
    Best wishes from Germany,

I'm so vary sad to read this!! I was maintaining my subscription to CK essentially for your column. You were so inspiring and I always been a big fan of yours. But I understand that sometimes, it is time to say goodbye and you have to know when the time is right.
I will continue to read your blog!

I'm going to really miss your column. It is the first section I flick to when I get my copy through the post. I dog ear the pages so that I can easily refer back to it. I always get inspiration from your layouts and often scraplift the design or the ideas. Thank goodness you are continuing to blog. I'm currently doing your Yesterday Today class and love it. I hope that you will do more online classes so that I can continue to learn from you. You are such an inspiration to me, both in scrapbooking and in life.

You have truly changed the way I scrapbook. Your attitude of accepting yourself and the way your pages turn out has inspired me when I think something I have created is not "good enough" I just do what you advise and let it go and move onto the next thing I want to create without any regret or guilt. My best friend and I both love you and when we scrapbook we always say "Ali says..." so that we know we are ok. I have all of your books and hope you will continue to write and inspire us. I wish you all the best and I am so thankful for all that you have taught me.

The other day, while I was reading your December Sutdio A, I was telling myself that maybe it was the last one... maybe because I just read that it was the last of Becky's sketches... maybe because it is December and thus then end of a year... I was telling myself how creative your column always was, how inspiring, how true... but how much work it must have been...
So now I'm really sorry to see it won't be there in the next issue, that we won't even get to see your incredible work... but I can totally understand how much time it can take each month, and that with your two little ones, you want more freedom... and I'm sure you'll cherish the "no commitment to a magazine" part! Enjoy your new found freedom! Create, create, create! And thank your for your inspiring work and words.

Oh no, it is such a shame that you won't be in CK any more. I have absolutely loved your designs and I always keep them close at hand for inspiration. You are hands down my favourite designer and I have picked up so many tips from your unique and often stunning work. Thank you for being such a star, and please keep sharing your inspirational layouts with us.

I have to admit. . .I feel upset that I won't see your column in the magazine. It was always the one sure-fire, go-to section that I looked forward to. Your style is so unique. What a loss for them (& me).
I know that you'll probably look back at this moment and realize that it was for the best. . .the new improved you will be where you should be in your life, at that given moment. New doors will open (bigger and better)and your gift will be shared with others in a whole new light.
    :)
