Saying Goodbye To Studio A

Ck
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.

Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.

I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.

The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.

Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).

Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.

I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

Oh no! I'm so bummed out! CK has been my favorite all time magazine and I've noticed changes these past few months. Losing Becky and now, you, is a huge hit to them. While the new people coming into the magazine are still excellent, I'm wondering about the overall quality of the magazine. It feels like we (the readers) know you all personally because of seeing your work month after month. We watch you live your lives through reading your SB pages and seeing those sweet babies being born, and grow, first bdays, etc. I, for one, will most definitely miss you Ali!
But, that being said, congrats to you that there are bigger things out there! We'll just see you every day in your blog. :)
Best of luck to you, Ali! You go girl!!

Your column will be sadly missed. It was my only reason for picking up the CK magazine. Each month I have clipped out and saved every Studio A in page protectors safely stashed in a binder which I pull out more than I can say. Thanks for all the unending inspiration!!

CK will definitely not be the same without you! Studio A is my most dog-eared/torn out for reference pages of CK. I continue to gain inspiration from it all the time.
Thanks for all you do Ali!

I too have ended my relationship with CK. My main reasons for the magazine was looking at the articles You, Lisa B and Becky wrote. I admire the 3 of you! I loved your work! I loved your inspiration!! I love watching your families grow!!!
I found great joy from them. I also have found that most of the other articiles and information just didn't appeal to me personally!
I am deeply saddened by the choice of Creating Keepsakes.
Thank you for this blog! It is a daily stop for me and a great source of inspiration and encouragement! Keep doing what you are doing Ali!! We love you!!

I am so sorry to lose your column from CK. Yours, Becky Higgins and Jennifer McGuire were my favorites. I love reading your blog. Sounds like it was mutual. I would imagine the deadlines might be hard to adhere to. Wishing you all the best!

I'm really sorry to hear this - I always flip to your section first before reading the rest of the magazine. You have such a gift and give so much goodness to the world. I'm grateful to know you'll still be blogging and creating and sharing, even if it isn't through CK.

Wow. Ditto to all the previous comments. Studio A is the first thing I turn to when I receive my issues. Plus, I check your blog daily for MORE tidbits from you. You have a loyal following of well-wishers and you will be successful in any new creative endeavor. We all look forward to your next chapter. Best wishes.

I'm just wondering what the future CK is going to look like? It seems like the new buyers of CK are taking away the essence of the magazine. I will miss your column Ali!

And now there is no reason to read the magazine anymore. First Jessica, then Candice and now you. I think the same 3 people write all of the articles now. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.

I add my voice in saying you'll be very missed at CK. The substance in the magazine has been what you and Becky Higgins have provided, and I hope the magazine can survive without you two! Having said that, I'm thinking if this gives you more time to teach on-line classes then this is a great move on your part for us. I cannot tell you what an amazing class Yesterday/Today is! On so many levels it is an incredible journey.
    On with the adventure!

I just subscribed weeks ago and have yet to get my first issue. I have been buying Ck for the last few years in the market, and I always flip to your section before I buy. Finally I just said, "Duh, let me just subscribe!" Guess that was a goof... Luckily, I just now called and will not even be billed. Thank Goodness, as I will no longer be a reader without your section. Good Luck to you on your future journey, and HOORAY for your Blog! Hugs, mandy
